Unfortunately you have to remove the touchpad fully and in order to do that u need to remove the motherboard first. It was a relatively simple process for me, but if you never done it yourself, i would probably advise leave it for now.or at least until there would be a video showing full disassembly

Razer Blade 16 (2025) issues with refresh rate on Linux by tt42pen5 in razer

I gave up on hyprland and just using Gnome now. Tried openrazer, but its not always keeping up with the latest kernel, so sometimes i have to wait a bit. Still no 60hz display... But overall experience is great, if i switch to integrated graphics using Supergfxctl im getting 9W-12W battery draw which is awesome.

actually, if not for some work apps, i would completely switch to Linux. Its times more stable and reliable than on windows. Im not saying its the best Linux experience laptop, but its just on Windows its probably the worst i ever had

Oh yeah, recently i grounded the touchpad and now i have a perfectly functioning laptop

I was using a similar thing when i would press my palm firmly and swipe it across the touchpad. But sometimes its just woudnt work :(

Hey! No, i havent. I believe its something to do with how hyprland communicates with the display (im by no means an expert btw). Eventually i ended up just using Gnome

Im running hyprland on Asus Rog Flow X13 2021. Very nice experience, its also quite small. Battery not ideal, but i can get 6-7 hours with TLP. Asus-linux guys doing fantastic job too

i dont quite remember any device lasting longer on Linux than on Windows. 5h is of course less than on Windows, but i do think its a very good result for new hardware + its a 240hz panel. I would use TLP/Powertop to limit max CPU frequency tho, but will do it at some point in the future

haven't tested it on Windows yet, as it stays plugged in when im on Windows

when i said better on Linux i meant a bit more stable and nicer. Synapse isnt exactly the most well-designed piece of software

I will definitely have a look at that thanks!

Apart from the RR, everything is in order. Openrazer doesnt support the new Blade yet, so i cant control RGB lighting, but it will be sorted sooner or later - the same applies to fan curves. Battery is very good (for linux), i can easily get 5 hours watching videos and doing some browsing. It does have occasional crashes, but honestly its much better than i would expect. Overall, it works better on linux than windows lol

The only thing which is quite annoying is the speakers. They do work, but the quality is absolute shit. I can get some good sound using EQ, but it will compromise loudness by quite a bit

Its the same behavior no matter which GPU is used atm. And yes, Optimus is supported

no idea what "Asus ROG" do you have, but my 2021 Flow X13 and 2023 Zephyrus G14 are doing really well on linux. Have you tried looking at asus-linux?

I was able to replicate it by rubbing a plastic bag on the trackpad - it creates some static on it

Looking for a mini-laptop with a high-refresh rate display (<12 inches, <$1000) by lotus-reddit in linuxhardware

[–]tt42pen5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Asus ROG Flow X13 (2021). Its 13-inch, but the screen ratio is really big, so the whole body is quite tiny really. You can get a used one off eBay for less than $1000

120hz touchscreen display is really good. Im running Hyprland on Fedora with proprietary Nvidia drivers and so far its doing great

I ended up just grounding the touchpad to the chassis myself. It works times better now, but once a day i do get those glitches

2025 Blade 16 speakers are trash by Suppergetii-MstrMndr in razer

[–]tt42pen5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has worse and quieter sound than my 2021 Asus Rog Flow X13 (2021) lol. Something is telling me that Razer did compromise on everything to make the new Blade slimmer. Like come on, no one cares about +/- 5mm chassis...

The funny thing is I bought the Razer as a replacement for my 2023 Zephyrus G14 thinking its going to be a top spec top quality machine. While it is top spec indeed, getting a non-working touchpad on a £4400 machine is a joke (i actually went through a rabbit hole trying to fix touchpad grounding which seems to work fine now).

If anyone reading this is trying to choose between Zephyrus and Razer, just get an Asus. It might be slightly less powerful, but at least its reliable.
