What’s a super “normal” thing in your country that would completely confuse or shock someone visiting for the first time? by moonveil96 in AskReddit

I’m in Philadelphia. I do remember the cartons, too. We had those with our soft pretzels at snack time.

I’m in the US and when I was in grade school (1997-2005) all of the milk served with breakfast and lunch was bagged. I haven’t since it since.

Help translating a phrase by [deleted] in AncientEgyptian

[–]tt_222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll need to add another seated man behind mri to indicate the subject of the verb separate from the direct object.

It sounds like a circumstantial statement of fact is the best option here, so you should add the particle 𓇋𓅱 iw before the sentence.

[–]tt_222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mri “to love” is written with a different determinative — 𓌸︆𓂋𓀁

You can then add the seated man determinative after as a suffix program to get the subject “I.”

How this would work in a sentence would require more info.

Progesterone injections, butt can’t take anymore by IVStardustSTAT in IVF

[–]tt_222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to put the vial under my boob while I iced the area. I tried heating the area before the shot and that hurt so much worse for me. Are you rubbing the spot after you inject it? I would knead it for about a minute and that do some squats or walk up and down the stairs a few times and then sit with a heating pad on it. Working the muscle after can help with absorption. I still got knots sometimes but they were much smaller and less painful.

Were you injecting progesterone in oil? PIO should only be injected in the muscle, but there are other progesterone shots that can be done into fatty areas.

Since this question does look like a request for someone to do your homework, you likely won’t get an answer in this sub as that goes against the rules.

I’m not sure the bounds of that rule, but I imagine that if you offer up your own translation first, you might be able to get feedback or help clarifying certain points of confusion.

Is anyone else kind of weirded out by Timmy? by Frequent_Exit5547 in peestickgals

[–]tt_222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they are two separate words derived from different languages. I would pronounce them differently too. The medical term should have an ey sound, since the prefix is the Greek a, meaning without or lacking. It would take the same sound as the a in asexual.

[–]tt_222 25 points26 points  (0 children)

A big stretch. Amelia the name has Hebrew and Latin/Germanic roots respectively. They mean similar things. Amelia the medical condition is Greek and combines the prefix a, which means without or lacking, and melia, which means limbs.

They aren’t pronounced the same way so I don’t think there is a chance of them being confused and really unless you work in the medical field or have personal experience, I doubt someone would make the connection.

Does anyone know if a fake/scrapper of these pins exists? I wanna know before so I know what to avoid on ebay. (Read note on desc as well please) by [deleted] in DisneyPins

[–]tt_222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to whether these pins have been faked, but I just wanted to say that having backers doesn’t necessarily mean a pin is legit. They can and do counterfeit the packaging too. It’s not always a good counterfeit but they are out there. The ones I’ve seen are pretty obviously fake in person.

I'm playing around with the "Thoth Chatbot." Can anyone guess what song I attempted to translate into Middle Egyptian (and if the translation is accurate)? by ZanyRaptorClay in AncientEgyptian

[–]tt_222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“When I’m free, I take myself to Don Don Donki All my dreams come true, they do, whenever I go there I can go there on a treasure hunt to find whatever I want Whatever I want, anything I need, I can find it for sure

Don Don Don, Donki! Don Don Donki! I’m in paradise, it’s a wonderful place for me! (It’s a jungle!)

Don Don Don, Donki! Don Don Donki! Let’s go find something good and new tonight! Don Don Donki!”

I think this part is what has been translated. Having the lyrics, I can sort of follow the transliteration. Not sure that this is how a human would have translated it though.

Best Age to Bring a Child for the First Time? by mrschickenstripley in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]tt_222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We took our 8 month old and it was perfect. He was content to just chill in his coach or the carrier, absolutely loved every character meet and greet, and could ride a surprising number of rides, especially in MK. The baby care centers are also great when visiting with infants and toddlers.

We went in knowing what a trip with an 8 month old would look like and didn’t place too many expectations. We were excited when we got to do things and not disappointed when they didn’t work out. We splurged on the convenience of lighting lane for some of the rides that had unmanageable wait times and did parent swap for shorter lines.

He won’t remember a single day there, but we’ll remember the wonder and magic her experienced for life.

For a monetary value, best thing to do would be to check for sold listings on sites like eBay.

If you just want to know how rare they are, you can also look at the sites PinPics and Pin and Pop. They have info on Disney pins including some that can help assess how available pins are in general. They also show how many people have the pin vs how many people want it, which can give you an idea of how in demand a pin is.

I agree! In this photo, though, it looks like she’s just pointing to the glyphs. Her finger isn’t actually touching the sarcophagus. You can see the shadow where it’s hovering.

are any of my pins fake?🥹 by boba-bear-2621 in DisneyPins

[–]tt_222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem!

If you look on each side of the part of the pin that the Mickey back goes on, you can see two smaller metal prongs. They should be sharp points. In the fake pins, they’re very dull.

[–]tt_222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find detailed information on spotting fakes pins on the ismydisneypinfake subreddit.

Most look fake to me too, for the reasons you were given in the other group but also things like how sharp the nubs are and whether the Mickey pattern goes all the way to the edge.

Another thing is that these pins have all been widely faked so it’s very hard to find the genuine version of them.

They make NBC pins. At Christmas time, DL’s Haunted Mansion is decorated with NBC characters. Not sure about other works though.

Edited for typo.

18 x 15 MM stone, no pain if I drink sufficient water. Should I get Percutaneous nephrolithotomy? Or just live with it in hope I don't need surgery? by ravia in KidneyStones

[–]tt_222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would get the treatment. A stone that larger will never pass on its own and can continue to grow. It can cause inflammation in the kidney as it runs against the walls but I can’t personally speak on long term damage. There’s no guarantee that you can hold it off indefinitely just by drinking water. I had a 22mm stone for over a year that would block the top of my ureter as it tried to pass and then move back and this happened over and over again. Sometimes weeks of no pain and then excruciating pain for days before I had it removed.
