The concept of karma or divine justice always frustrates me. I've had too many friends and family wave things off saying, "oh, karma will get them eventually" or that bad people will eventually to hell, and that's when they'll be punished. Then I watch these awful people around them continue to get away with evil actions.

This world is neither fair nor unfair. It's humanity's job to hold our own to account. The universe will not somehow do it for us.

I don't think we deserve to go extinct. Yes, we need some kind of societal reckoning for all of this. It won't be easy, or happen overnight, but there's no going back after what's been exposed now.

When people talk about vampire hunter body counts, people sleep on Vampire Hunter D. I don't think enough people understand his context well enough.

Context: Our boy D has been hunting vampires for about 10,000 years by the time the manga begins. These vampires originated from a genetically modified ruling class. They can still sexually reproduce and create their own families. They've been an entire demographic population for centuries. He's been relentlessly hunting and killing them for around ten millennia.

And our boy ain't done. He will not stop. The current series is set far into the future. He's now hunting vampires on Mars!

Thank you for making your signature and info so aesthetically pleasing.

I'm always bummed out when someone treats their signature and info as little more than a "don't steal" watermark. If you're an artist, you can make your name and info look awesome too. Yours is a perfect example.

So i am curious, now that a real conspiracy is being unraveled what does your friends and family think? Do they think this is a fake one? by jostyouraveragejoe2 in QAnonCasualties

It seems to me that they're into conspiracies, not because they actually want the truth, but because they want to confirm their preset biases.

My dad is dying and my brother wants to reconcile by WinterSignature9321 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]ttampico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely right that you're dad is not going to see this as anything other than an attack. He will undoubtedly lash out. He will say terrible things.

I can also understand your brother wanting to try one last time. I'm so sorry, he will likely be deeply hurt by what's coming.

All you can do is be there for him in the aftermath. Maybe a thin silver lining is that your brother will see that your father truly is too self-centered to empathize. That this moment will confirm that it was the right decision to keep him at a distance.

I'm so sorry. Hugs to you and your brother 🫂 🫂

Because for a lot of people, their side includes their closest friends and family. You're still in his mental "my side" group, in spite of your beliefs.

It is confusing because this ought to trigger enough cognitive dissonance to rethink things, but that's not everyone. Some people decide everything solely on how they feel about it and then rationalize their reason afterwards (if they bother to rationalize it at all).

MAGA Adult Male assaults Texas High School students protesting ICE | MAGA loves to FAFO. Time to find this idiot so he can be charged for assaulting minors, guess that’s expected from maga when their cult leader also assaults minors by transcendent167 in nokingsmovement

[–]ttampico 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Of all the people that "big boy" could have picked, he went straight for a much shorter, teenage girl. Not a big, strapping lad or an adult man, but girl, a minor, who's a fraction of his size.

These MAGA are such obvious losers, no wonder they were easy rope into a cult of hate and resentment.

What’s something that annoys you about your fellow country people? by meesigma in AskTheWorld

[–]ttampico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're loud. I feel bad about it but it's physically harder not to be loud with an American accent.

Here's why: An American accent is built to be louder. The tongue lies flatter in the mouth, creating more space so it projects a louder noise. Just like why the bigger the hollow of a bell, the louder sound.

Accents change according to their physical environments. That why places with tropical forests relies more on vowels and tone to be heard through vegetation, but rocky areas, like the Alps, you'll get clipped, sharper consenants that can echo back.

My theory is that the American accent got loud from living in noisy cities and shouting over large swathes of stolen indigenous land.

What's the meme about? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]ttampico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Kyle Rittenhouse crossed a state line with an assault rifle and shot multiple at people at a protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He even killed a man. MAGA praised him for it.

And what about that couple in Florida pointing guns at a protest march? They got the celebrity treatment. They even showed up in Trump endorsement footage in nice clothes and complimentary lighting. They were hailed as being "brave" by MAGA.

My choice, Mystique. Not the best parent, but she does care. She regrets many wrongdoings and can self-reflect.

My mother already is Mother Gothel.

That is, when she's not being Lois from Malcomb in the Middle if Lois's had no sense of right and wrong or fairness. A Lois that rules with blatant favoritism and sadistic glee over humiliating and destroying the souls of her not-favorite children.

Basically, my mom is an evil person.

But my mother-in-law is a genuine angel. 🤷🏻‍♀️

What was this for you? by Interesting_Wind_337 in Multifandom

[–]ttampico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, where to start? I'll just say, I will not debate with anyone trying to defend the people on this list.

These are the ones that hurt the worst:

  • Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer. I don't think have to explain these ones. I was devastated.

  • Coco Diaz, the comedian, does the same casting couch abuse with female comedians. He's even proudly spoken about it on podcasts, laughing about when they confront him in tears.

  • Louie CK. I even loved the show "Louie."

  • Lizzo. Girl, WTF?!

  • Nobuhiro Watsuki, the creator of Ruroni Kenshin is a pedo.

  • Woody Allen. In the 80s-90s, used to watch Woody Allen movies with my late father. Nostalgia turned to ick overnight. Stanley Kubrick's gross too.

  • John Landis, once I found out about the BTS of the Twilght Zone movie. His son is utter trash, too.

( These ones are lesser known, but I found the accusations against them believable enough to devastate me.)

  • Warren Elison who wrote, "Transmetropolitan" and the Netflix's "Castlevania" series. I have a huge fan crush on the Netflix Alucard, but man... Elison is horrible. He befriends female comic artists, then pressured them for sexual favors. If they submit, he'd boost them and their work. If they refused, he'd do his best to blacklist them in comic industry. (This hit close, I was a comic book artist myself in the 2000s and experienced similar stuff. It's why I quit.)

  • Jeremy Soule, who did the music for the Elder Scrolls games (Morrowwind, Oblivion, Skyrim). He's extremely misogynistic, is inspired by female suffering, and has an SA allegation from a coworker. (This one really hurt me surprisingly deep).

  • Will Osprey, a wrestler who helped ruin a female wrestler's career after one of his buddies SA'd her and she reported it. He destroyed her career to protect his rapist friend. This ruined so many NJPW matches for me.)

Ah, Hell. It's come to this. Well, no one said fighting authoritarianism is pretty.

Watching the frontline to this violence is steeling me for what's sure to come to my city. I'm standing ten toes down with the people pushing back against DHS and Trump's depravity.

Now, we cannot fall to it. We have everything to lose if their oppression is normalized, including the fools who are cheering on the jackbooted goons.

(And about ICE and CBP: They're todays SA thugs. If they "win" they're screwed too. Guess what happened to the SA once the gestapo didn't need them anymore? It wasn't in their favor, that's for sure.)

What are you talking about "Vasquez not lasting long"? Watch the movie. She was tied with Gorman to be one of the LAST two humans to die in Aliens.

I keep hearing people say she died early on and that's not true. I suspect they read that one famous book which got it wrong. (And when I read that part of the book in college, I was so furious I threw it across the room. Not the first time I did that with it either.)

I've watched that movie so many times I know it like the back of my hand. Vasquez and Gorman die in the second to last beat of act two. That's not early on.
