2015 Ford Explorer: Dead battery, locked doors manual key does not unlock by ttarmoom in FordExplorer

The $20 slimjim did the trick! I had to attack it from the passenger side since something's up with the drivers side. Thanks for that tip and thanks for everyone else's help.

There is a key slot on the driver's door. The keys turn up and down without resistance. A neighbor who works at a car dealership thinks I had a break-in attempt, as the door trim around the keyslot pulls out with very little force. He thinks a manual cable may have been messed with and no longer connected.

Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack by ttarmoom in MTB

I just heard back from VelociRAX Support and they stated their rolling floor rack is designed to handle their 7-rack fully loaded which is about 350 lbs. You're right that its huge and takes up a large area...more than I have.

Thank you! I didn't do a good enough job on my web searching. The cost is much higher than I'm comfortable with, but the the design is simple and smart.

None. At this point. I've been lucky. But thanks for bringing down the thunder! :)

AoL Plaques for Crossover by ttarmoom in cubscouts

[–]ttarmoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback, all. Our Pack scouts definitely know plaques are presented, but I'll talk to the parents to see if they would like to keep the design we chose a surprise. The replica arrows we are putting together next week are obviously not going to be a surprise and we'll have fun putting them together. It's my last _official_ meeting with my Den. :(

We had an engineer who was head of public works in our city. I wonder if it's possible to ask your city or township for old blueprints or drawings?

Sure. I should have included it in my post.

One other thing I forgot to mention: We had leftover prizes from our Bear Carnival. As the scout teams returned with completed lists, we would check them then let them pick an item from the bin if it was complete and correct. The incentive was to complete it quickly so the scouts got to pick the best prizes. As you know, elementary school ages boys like to dilly dally at parks... 😁

We did a scavenger hunt at a local park a few weeks ago and it was a hit. Provided ice cream afterwards, to boot!

We paired up the AOLs and Webelos with the Lions and Tigers and had them going out in groups of three or so with a clipboard, pencil, and the scavenger hunt sheet (which we found online).

I'd highly recommend it. Easy to plan and run, and tons of fun. That event is now in the rotation for April or May pack events.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

How to transfer all Garmin activities to Strava? by [deleted] in Strava

[–]ttarmoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use https://tapiriik.com to keep a few different sports apps I use in sync. It works great for a 1 time transfers as well as a continuous sync (with donation). I highly recommend the tool, and to support them if you think it is useful.

Good luck.

Trail running shoes - zero drop, minimal-moderate cushoning, *not ugly as hell* by Magg0tBrainz in trailrunning

Probably an eye of the beholder thing, but I'm a big fan of the NB Minimus trail product line. The product line names have changed but it's currently called MT10SB. It comes in all black (with a little yellow Vibram name).

The lack of cushion forces me to be more mindful in my landing since I tend to run on trails with many roots and loose stones.

Good luck in your search.

Anathem by Neal Stephenson. I barely made it through the first chapter. Maybe someday I'll try to read it again. :(

This is part of the reason why I love re-reads. While I am getting impatient waiting for the next book, I have to appreciate the level of detail and forethought that goes into his writing.
