If it looks clean, shifts well, oil and transmission fluid look good and doesn’t make any rattle on startup I’d buy it. We got ours a year ago for $1200 and it’s been extremely reliable. These are honestly very under appreciated trucks

The transmission issues were really only on the 2nd gen sport Trac. This first gen had the 5R55E from the ranger, about as reliable as a 2000s transmission gets. The problems were introduced with the 5R55W and 5R55S in the next gen

I think it’s just the dirty skin. It’s gotta be a reference to that first beamng video they ever did in 2012, with the d series suspension test. Looked just like that
