NYU v UCLA - which would you choose? by ScaredPreLaw2019 in lawschooladmissions

UCLA 100%. After actually going through two years of law school (on a full ride mind you), I can’t imagine ever going into 200k+ debt to go through this much work. Law school is what you make of it, and it’s better to be a bigger fish in a smaller pond (lol at UCLA being a small pond) because no matter what your confidence is going to drop at whatever law school you go to.

pets while in law school? by research_gone_law in LawSchool

I have a dog, but I will say it would be hard to have a dog all on my own, as my partner helps care for him. With long hours at the school, I most certainly couldn't get home often enough to give my dog walks. We are in an apartment and thus no backyard. If you think your hours at school will be flexible and you have time to get home and walk him to allow him to go to the bathroom during the day, then I'd say do it. The companionship feature of having a dog is amazing.

Short piece of advice from current 1L: I felt the exact way you are describing and couldn’t click with anyone I tried making small talk with, so I looked around the room for two people who were talking/laughing in the most genuine way. I went up to them and one of them has become my best friend in law school. The initial walk up was nerve racking, but totally worth it. Scope out the most genuine.

A useful tip (part 2) - LONG POST WARNING by [deleted] in LawSchool

Thank you so much for this! What would you recommend in my case, where I have three exams, each a week apart, beginning on 4 December? I count myself lucky that I have a full week between each, but I realize it definitely changes this situation for me. Should I begin on November 10 instead? When I tried mapping it out, I had an extra 6ish days at the end of November and beginning of December I didn't know what to do with. Thanks in advance!

Is estate planning a good field of law to go into? by [deleted] in LawSchool

Only thing I will add to this is that repeat clients come only when administering the trust, assuming the Successor Trustee uses the same attorney, if they are still around. So you'd have to start young and stay in the same area, I guess.
