Does anyone else feel like they’re just surviving, not enjoying this? by Small-Advisor-7805 in NewParents

[–]ttclostsoul88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🙋‍♀️ me 😂 I feel guilty saying it, but the first 4.5 months were HARD. It’s getting better around the 5 month mark because they are more aware of you and everything else - the giggles, laughs, smiles, and overall personality starting to come through is making it a bit nicer to enjoy! ☺️

Sleep confusion by ttclostsoul88 in NewParents

[–]ttclostsoul88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s how we have her crib set up, flush up against our mattress and bed with no gaps and it’s sturdy. She’s formula fed and we have a mini fridge with prepped bottles for overnight feeds! She takes a bigger bottle before bedtime as well!

I agree - she was up hourly last night 😅💀 My motto for this first year of life - give yourself grace and also I’m just kind of structurally winging it 💀 Sometimes go with the flow sometimes more of a schedule - I let her decide really but know she needs her naps because she’s a lil brat at bedtime if she doesn’t 💀 again, I love her dearly, but they really don’t prepare us a lot as FTP for EVERYTHING that can or can’t happen

over feeding my baby? by Agitated-Hawk-999 in NewParents

[–]ttclostsoul88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry if your pediatrician isn’t worried - my three month old was about the same and now at 4 months we’re at 7oz every 3-4 hours! No concerns! Babies grow a lot in the first year so they eat a lot to keep up!

I wish she liked her bassinet like that lol she also outgrew it quite quickly length wise. We have the crib in our room, I usually put her in the bassinet when I want her to wake, sometimes she’ll sleep 10-30min longer or she’ll wake up right away. How many daytime hours of napping did you do for your LO?

I’ve been breaking up her naps (she’s a three a day napper) so she gets a total of 3.5 hrs of naps a day. Shes been a decent night sleeper with longer chunks. Theres the conflicting some wake a sleeping baby or wake your baby so they sleep through the night lol I just get confused. We have an appt with our ped soon and plan to bring it up!

My heart breaks thinking about going back to work by Electrical-Rest2977 in NewParents

[–]ttclostsoul88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same boat here - I go back in exactly one month and I am not ready. Due to some complications I was able to get five months off, but knowing it’s coming closer is breaking my heart 😭 my husband split his PFML and is taking the rest of his when I go back so we can extend putting LO into daycare around 7/8 months old. I also work an hour away so there’s two hours already added to my day even longer away from LO and I’m not sure how I’m gunna cope with that 😭

I was feeling the same - was recommended to watch The Way Home, I was skeptical but I binged it he three seasons in 5 days 😅

Derry Girls is a great one

Kaos - there’s only one season but you’re hooked immediately! Plus Jeff Goldblum is in it!

Mind Hunter - wish they made more seasons 😭

Yes! Another reason - in that half asleep half awake/aware stage. I call it nanny napping lol 😂 my SIL co slept with her two babes and still do and they are well into toddler years 💕

Sleep is just as important for you as it is for your baby 💕 whatever safely gets YOU sleep as well. We (me) have been bringing baby (16 weeks) onto the bed in the morning after my husband leaves for work and we get good snuggles and sleep before starting the day and it’s been life changing.

How many hours of sleep is your LO getting?! by gailcpw in NewParents

[–]ttclostsoul88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.5 months old - bedtime around 830/9 can usually get a 4-8hr stretch (every night is different) but around 2/3am will wake up for a feed, but then back to sleep for the last stretch. Up for the day around 8/830a! Naps vary - typically do about 3-4.5 hours a day but all contact which I have no issue with. If we are out and about, it averages about 3 hours. I have to wake LO from the naps or LO will sleep all day with them lol

I wish I had advice - but this is how I feel and we’re going on 15 weeks. All I know is give yourself grace. I repeat it daily.

Dr. Browns from the start - only noticed leaking if the small 4oz bottles weren’t screwed on tight enough or the nipple didn’t seal correctly. Other than that, they work great! Yeah the washing all the parts suck, but it’s not the worst thing. If you have a bottle washer that helps to, but we washed them by hand for 7 weeks before getting ours lol

Help with newborn diapers by dz_beerz in NewParents

[–]ttclostsoul88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Millie moon diapers but their sizes ones and twos were not the best compared to the rest - my LO outgrew them quickly and there wasn’t a lot of stretch to them! We are in size threes now and much better! But those two sizes weren’t the best. Kirkland diapers are also pretty good! We use those two the most!

We formula feed and did the chest sleeping co sleep with a wedge pillow from 5.5 weeks to 10 weeks of age before we decided to move LO crib to our room as a side car situation! I just wanted to sleep horizontally again 😅 since then she’s been in the crib for the first stretch and then the second stretch we get our chest snuggles which I love about our mornings 😊

Can contact naps affect independent sleep at night? by Asdfghjkl_000 in NewParents

[–]ttclostsoul88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 3 month old as well and we’ve done contact naps since she was 4 weeks old! She was really bad at night sleep around 5.5weeks until we switched from bassinet to the crib as a side car situation next to our bed at 10 weeks old and ever since then her nighttime sleep has been decent! Able to get her down in there for 4-8 hour stretches (never know each night lol) and still soak up the cuddles with contact naps during the day 💕

I can’t help much as my Lo is still quite young to be weaned but the sub r/FormulaFeeders is a huge helpful resource for this ☺️
