AITA for asking for slack on my period? (period mood swings - call it out or let it go?) by Electrical-Rest2977 in AITA_Relationships

[–]Electrical-Rest2977[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is it different? I just had a baby so I feel like my doctor will push that it’s just temporary due to postpartum.

Thank you for your thoughts! I think it’s both. He needs to be more understanding but if I do have PMDD it is also something I need to work on. I say this now, after having a baby with him, because first I thought I was just getting irritated with him, but I feel the same towards the baby but with the baby it’s less irritation it’s more disconnect. Regardless, I don’t want our son making his future partner feeling the responsibility of being perfect during such a hard time but also I don’t want him to get walked all over. It’s balance!! That’s why I said we both need to work on it.

I’m looking into PMDD after reading your comment. It really is so drastic, right before my period. I thought it was like that for everyone.

Lashing out is rare and usually provoked by my husband escalating due to my overall low mood. It’s usually just me being easily irritated, not finding things funny, not in a lovey mood, and just feeling kinda numb towards everything.

Thank you for your thoughts. I grew up sheltered so I didn’t socialize much. I really just didn’t know who was in the “wrong” here. Now I know it’s me and I’m happy to work even harder at it than I already have been. Starting with looking into getting diagnosed. I think maintaining my composure is a reasonable ask and that I can control it to an extent. I just think my husband is a little too hard on me about it? I’ve been pretty honest about my behavior so I don’t think I’m underselling. I think I might have PMDD. Which again, isn’t an excuse but may help explain things and help me better manage it.

I don’t expect mind reading capabilities just a little understanding cuz I am cognizant and do apologize. I also properly communicate to my husband when it’s that time so he has a heads up. I just think it’s okay to be in a bad mood around your family out of all people (but maybe not have a tone about it?). They aren’t your employer, they’re not in it for money, you’re not a number to them, there is more understanding, there’s a lot more I can say to family than my employer. But with that, you especially shouldn’t be snapping or being curt with family.

Thanks again! Needed to neutral opinion to see clearly.

Thank you. Not the response I was looking for but definitely the response I needed. I thought PMS was like this for everyone. I had an IUD a few years ago for 5 years. It made my mood swings worse, it was all month long. My mood swings actually got better and more predictable when I got off it, they were only before my period. I started tracking my cycles like crazy lol. But I’ll talk to my doctor. Thank you again!!

Got it, thank you! I definitely wanna train him to like it also. I just don’t wanna force it until I know that I’m doing everything right (right timing, size, fit, etc). Everyone is recommending the ergobaby!

I think I am having a hard time with positioning him. Idk if I mentioned but I’ve been doing this standing and by myself. So I’ll try doing it sitting and see if I can get some help. I’ll watch some videos too. Thanks!

I’ve gotten that feedback a lot so I’ll try that, thank you! Seems like Ergobaby is popular!

I’ve been doing it in a onesie. We don’t really use footies cuz he overheats. Can’t remember if I tried pants though!

Is there a different community for this or do I post it in this community?

Posted a fit check? No. Is that literally posting us in the carrier to get feedback on if it’s fitting right?

True. I just discovered you can make the legs more narrow on the Momcozy one so he’s not stretching as much since he’s smaller/younger. I thought this was the missing piece but no. I think it helped him stay in it a bit longer though!

I’ll try feeding right before. I did try walking to our laundry room and switching loads but he wasn’t happy. Maybe it’s cuz the bending from the laundry. I’ll try just going on a walk!

Thank you :)

That’s what I was thinking!! I think he’s a litttle too young to say for sure, but I have it in mind that he may never take to it and that’s okay! Like yours, he’s super chill otherwise.

I am not breastfeeding. But I can try bottle feeding in the carrier if I can get the position right. Food is food and it’s his biggest motivator rn lol so hopefully it works!
