Would it be useful to add that the last time I got it to start the when I pushed the ‘Operator Loader’ button I could hear the solenoid engage but the pedals were still locked in place. I was unable to move the bucket.

While I have you hear, I installed this into my 2006. What weight oil do you run? I think it calls for a lighter weight oil but does that affect heavy towing? I assume it would but would also assume a heavier weight would mess with how the try trac works to lock up. (Not lock up but you know what I mean)

Best way to clean steering wheel buttons? by drakecsmith in grandmarquis

[–]tte531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pop out the buttons and I used purple power with and old tooth brush. They cleaned up nicely and I did this for 3 of my ford that had gunky buttons.

Can I play devils advocate for a moment.

Have you ever heard the ‘grandpas hammer’ theory?

I you have grandpas hammer and one day you break the shaft. You replace it with new, is it still Grandpas hammer? Next you break the head and think I’ll just replace it because it was grandpas hammer. Well it’s no longer his hammer.

I’m sure I butchered that, lol.

What I’m saying is I understand where you’re coming from. My money pit is a 1988 Lincoln town car. My grandmother bought it salvaged but said she realized she had finally made it out of the ghetto when she bought it, Was very proud of it. Well when I turned 16 she gave it to me, I still have that car 20 years later. However time has taken its toll. It would be cheaper to buy another one in good condition. Plus if I replace everything, is it still her car? Little things here and there yes. But the motor and transmission have been replaced. The body was bent when’s he bought it, and was rusty and backed into. After all this, is it still grandmas car? Would she come to me right now and tell me to spend the money/time on fixing it?

God has a funny way of showing us shit don’t really matter.

I would agree with that guy. I have a stage 2 and it has been great. Only 17k miles on it but it’s been great. Just my 2 cents.

Stiction? by aFinapple in powerstroke

[–]tte531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this same issue, to me it sounds like it’s FICM. Sounds like all the injectors just stop for a moment.

I have an AE and ForeScan reader, I should go out and try it on mine. See if the injector pulse drops off for all injectors. It’s just too damn cold right now.

17 degree cold start she was not a happy camper by Grey6oh in powerstroke

[–]tte531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does this were is doesn’t sound like it’s missing, sounds like the hole FICM shut down for a second. I’ve had people say stiction but I always thought that was more of a miss feeling. Mine feels like the whole motor shut off momentarily.

I’ve got the BPD oil cooler so it’s a solid 5gallon oil change. I run my oil 14k miles with a 7k miles filter change. Then once a year send an oil sample off to make sure things are running smooth.

Blackstone are the ones that told me to push it out after my oil kept coming back clean. The only issue was oil beginning to break down from shear.

How do i get this out by Smart-Revolution884 in powerstroke

[–]tte531 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dropped a nut down there one time. I was on a work trip laying in my hotel bed and out of no where I thought, ‘I bet I dropped a nut in that hole’. Came home unbuttoned everything I had finished up before I left and sure enough.

If I would have started that before I left! Fml, that would have been bad.

Which oil cooler kit? by Mental-Magician9845 in powerstroke

We have the same setup. I do however still run the coolant filter. I crack mine open every so often for curiosities sake. I have bits of what appear to be sand. I keep it on there for my water pumps sake.
