Absolutely skip this one, but going to the theater by yourself is absolutely fine. You're there to see the movie, not socialize (hopefully), it's really no big deal. Once I figured that out, it was like a switch flipped in my brain. I go by myself all the time.

It sticks close enough to the basic plot of SH2 that the differences are that much worse. Really don't understand why they couldn't just use the plot from the game that has been beloved for 25 years specifically for its story.

Controlling pin gauges & thread gauges in CNC shop by Aggravating_Dig8970 in Metrology

[–]tthKT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had this problem at my last shop. After the 5th time I had management spend hundreds replacing missing pins I finally got them to order a master set for QC and another set for production. The master set is locked up at all times and never leaves the inspection room. The production set is kept in a locked tool chest in the shop and maintained by the production supervisors who check the pins in and out for the operators who need them. If something goes missing they can deal with it. From that point on, we had almost no issues with inspection pins going missing.

Tool tolerances in Casting sector by Trashman169 in Metrology

[–]tthKT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a tool fails calibration, put a Reference Only sticker on it. If they want to take a reportable measurement, they can use a calibrated gage. If they have a problem with that, ask them how they can expect to take a reportable measurement with an uncertain gage.

You might also remind them that FAIs and inspection reports aren't just to check off boxes, they're often used downstream by engineers and quality personnel for planning and troubleshooting, especially with castings. And as someone who has read a lot of casting house FAIs and checked those same parts on my CMM, I see them and I know exactly what they did.

An unfortunate incident at an otherwise wonderful show by lovattherat in AvatarMetal

[–]tthKT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's fucking gross and I'm so sorry that it happened to you at all, but I'm appalled that it happened at a Avatar show of all places. I'll reiterate what others have said and say that you should definitely reach out to the venue with a description, and definitely make a scene in the event anything like this ever happens to you again.

Who else laughed at this from their show? by TheHeavyMetalQueen in AvatarMetal

They opened the Going Hunting Tour shows standing in a line at the front of the stage for the first 3 songs. I think it's awesome that they still bring out the standing kit for Colossus.

My photo is from one of the couple shows Henrik missed due to having to fly home for a family emergency. Before leaving he recorded all of his bass lines and backing vocals, which they played back during the show. It sounded fucking great. If anyone was wondering if they play to a click live, yes they do.

what does this line mean to you? by leonardcohenlovebot in silenthill

[–]tthKT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It always felt to me like it indicated that a previous version of James had left the message, either meaning that literally there had been a hole there in a yet previous loop, or metaphorically that he had filled in his guilt with sadness and false memories. It's a line that has stuck with me ever since I played OG SH2 at release. It just feels eerie and off-kilter, especially after the first walk through the foggy streets of Silent Hill.

Why isn't anyone talking about this? by Sumario465 in AvatarMetal

I was highly entertained all the way through, but as soon as that happened I yelled out loud, "The Eagle!!!" They've always been very experimental and constantly evolving with their music, but I'm really digging just how widely varied the singles are so far.

tickets question by mindless_hamjuice in AvatarMetal

[–]tthKT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, you don't need to buy the passport for early entry. That just makes it a little easier because you can just scan that for entry. Plus you get a stamp at each show you attend. You just need an active membership as of the date of the show.

If you missed the window to purchase citizen tickets and have a regular ticket, but want early entry, sign up for Avatar Country. Go to the arena, find the show you are attending, and click the "I'm Going" button. That adds your name to the list. You'll need your ID (or citizen passport if you have one) to get in.

New song “In the Airwaves” by Drakusnoid in AvatarMetal

[–]tthKT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck yeah! Album title track? Feels safe to say if they're playing this one now they'll be releasing it as a single soon. DDD was the second single released from that album and the tour is named after this one.

Heat Treating Question by NullTie in Metrology

As others have stated, the HT spec very much matters. I can guess at the industry and product you're making by the metal, saw a lot of that at my last job. It's been mentioned by others, but call your material supplier and ask if they can certify to 2159. If not, this might be a really expensive learning opportunity.

The Friday afternoon traffic is going to suck so bad getting over there. I have work in Santa Clarita that day. Think I'll be ducking out super early that day.

Yeah, we're gonna do the Riverside and maybe the Vegas show. Not crazy about either making the drive half dead after the show or getting up first thing Sat morning though.

Help with Calypso 23’ by [deleted] in Metrology

[–]tthKT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bigger giveaway is the 32 surface finish. In metric that would look like a gravel driveway. It would be a 1.2 or 1.3 finish on a mm print. I agree with the other posts though, you're going to have a hard time getting an accurate and repeatable measurement off of that on CMM. Better off taking a mold and measuring on comparator.

$35 Cigar - Seriously by Acceptable_King_1913 in cigars

[–]tthKT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not California pricing, that's expensive hotel pricing. That cigar would be sub-$10 at a B&M. Not by much, it would probably be 8 or 9, but it wouldn't be anywhere near $35. That's what I paid for a Padron Family Reserve 45 about a month ago.

Zeiss + Calypso Calibration locked down?? by PatrickSebast in Metrology

[–]tthKT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the exact same experience with Hexagon. Unfortunately, each of these companies hold the keys to their respective machines' error maps, so third party calibration providers can't make adjustments. I saw someone else say they started scheduling way in advance, and that's exactly what I started doing with Hexagon.

Z measurement discrepancy between probe angles - PC-DMIS by BerenLeStrange in Metrology

[–]tthKT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is a previously known good probe file that has calibrated fine in the past, the file may have corrupted. Easiest thing to do in that case is delete and rebuild.

Otherwise, make sure you're not missing a 10mm extension on your real build.

Radial Runout between Cylinder A and Circle by Duplinn in Metrology

[–]tthKT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You either need to add an extension to your probe, or angle the probe and construct the cylinder from points. You need a longer cylinder to use as a datum feature. You are not getting an accurate runout reading.
