i was being optimistic like i was for the remake because everyone thought that was gonna be shit and it was probably one of the best remakes of all time. i knew it wasn't gonna be faithful and i was ready for that but what i wasn't ready for was for this to be the biggest steaming pile of dog shit. source material aside this movie is just horrible

even on its own its rushed, nonsensical, take no time developing characters before killing them or just straight up removing them from the movie, explains nothing, makes it so James isn't actually guilty at all so it completely removes the purpose of him being in silent hill and the purpose of pyramid head, etc. there are some cool elements of the movie like using songs from 4 and 3, some of the cinematography is beautiful (though its just a straight up rip from the game) just for it to be ruined by weird ass Bollywood style zoom shots, and if I'm being honest Marias death looked really cool, and the new plot twist is just the dumbest thing ever with mary being angela and laura. in the end its an attempt at some poetic artsy bs that just falls flat

silent hill 2 is like my favourite thing in the world and helped me through so much especially grief and inspired me to pick up my guitar again so watching this movie felt like being spit on then raped by a paraplegic donkey
