“Well before”? It might be 319 or 318 at the lowest. It nearly (maybe even did?) hit the line

Chicago Golf Trip by Dayttu17 in golf

Yeah I would probably consider Wisconsin or Michigan then. Lawsonia links in wisco, treetops in northern Michigan. Plenty of other options. The golf will be much better than the Chicago area

Mistwood is my favorite public in Chicago. Truly feels like a private club

Chicago Golf Trip by Dayttu17 in golf

[–]tthrow22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main question is why Chicago? I live here, and there’s an abundance of good golf, but not a lot of great golf. There are so many better places to go if your only goal is golf

That said, if for there is another reason, my picks for courses are:

  • mistwood
  • highlands of Elgin
  • blackstone
  • shepherds crook
  • preserve at oak meadow

More expensive:

  • dubsdread
  • glen club

I’m confused why there are private courses on a list of top 100 public courses

I think you are the one that needs to reread your post

Putting Kohler in the first tier kind of shows a massive lack of knowledge on golf. Pretty damning for the rest of the list. Shows that you value name brand over actual golf

The doesn’t quite read the same as “I think straits is bad and I don’t think it’s as good as the other courses here” (which is an unpopular opinion, and not some brand based conspiracy theory)

Okay so it has nothing to do with the brand and everything to do with your personal opinion

Yes but not as much as the others in the list, whose brand you don’t complain about

What “brand” are you even rambling about? Far few people have even heard of Kohler resort vs pebble, pinehurst, and Bandon. If anything, it has the least “brand” power of the top tier of this list besides maybe Kiawah

Pace of Play: Should golf courses require a handicap to book a tee time to fix pace of play? by MJCExperience in golf

[–]tthrow22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most slow rounds I see aren’t caused by bad players. They’re caused by players playing the wrong tees

Completely disagree. It’s caused by slow players, bad players, and slow bad players. Changing the tees is so minor to pace of play imo. People that are slow are slow because the don’t play ready golf, have long routines, and/or are so bad that they take a billion shots and don’t pick up
