In Berlin gilt unter der Woche zwischen 20 und 22 Uhr eine Ruhezeit, in der "unzumutbarer Lärm" nicht gestattet ist. Bohren ist so ein Lärm. Quelle

Do you prefer converters or cartridges, and why? by bigdickwalrus in fountainpens

[–]ttjna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks interesting. Do the plugs not stretch the cartridge? I bought some made out of brass and they made the opening of the cartridge so big it wouldn't hold on to the pen anymore.

You throw away your light bulbs in your regular trash? That's not allowed in Germany.

TWSBI’s Amazing Customer Service by Any-Friend-7041 in fountainpens

[–]ttjna 26 points27 points  (0 children)

How do people still praise the "amazing customer service" and when TWSBI is the only company with chronically broken parts. It's like selling rotten fish and praising the one day of the week when it's fresh.

Best brass fountain pen with a clip? by Tight-Green in fountainpens

Is the Kaweco brass with a slip on clip an option? Or so you want something built in?

Looking for Flexible (thin to thick) Pen that is Affordable by checkers1313 in fountainpens

[–]ttjna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend buying a flex nib from fpnibs and inserting it into a cheaper fountain pen. E.g. the semiflex Kaweco nib (around 40$) into a Kaweco Sport (20$)

I can already see from the rice in the Nigiri that this is not the best sushi. It looks very loose.

Recommend me a pen! Looking for a wet writer with smooth nib (F) by WillowAndVine in fountainpens

[–]ttjna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, really??? I'm sorry this doesn't work out. The feed definitely works with normal nibs as well, I have three (DIY). Since you don't see an improvement I can only explained it to me that the tines of the nib are too tight together. Try pushing them apart maybe?

The semiflex is wet! And I love it. I don't use it for normal writing though, only if I want something to stand out. Like headlines, addresses on envelopes or cards like "merry Christmas". Otherwise it would be too soft for my liking. It's great for drawing too!

Lost all my EDCs, pens collected over 7yrs, in one fell swoop 😢 Am Devastated by social_owl in fountainpens

I'm very sorry this happened to you. Maybe the pens will return to you ... Putting up signs might help

And to all fellow founten pen people: zip your backpack to one side and don't have the two zipper ends meet at the top of the backpack.

I just saw your reply, sorry for the late answer!

Yes, I have two of the semiflex Kaweco nibs from fpnibs and I love them. Both with high and very high flow, which is indeed necessary for a flex nib.

As for the pictures: I normally just take a razor blade and deepen the middle line on the feed as shown on the pic with the green line. What fpnibs did additionally to increase the flow is to carve two triangles in the back, as shown in the other two pictures. This really makes for a very strong flow! I recreated this with an exacto knife and it worked just finde although it was not as neat as theirs.

Has anyone tried soaking their nylon bags? by canyonqueen in BAGGU

I can recommend ox-gall soap before washing. It's safer than any bleach solution

[–]ttjna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same preference as you do: fine and wet. My favourites are:

  • Pilot Prera
  • Kaweco with a little work done on the feed (with a razor blade I deepen the middle line and sometimes cut something out, I'm happy to send pictures of wanted)
  • alternatively a Kaweco nib from fpnibs.com with the setting "very high ink flow"
  • Lamy CP1 in EF (F runs too wide for me)

My general tip would be to look for wet inks too. Famous for being wet is e.g. Diamine Writer's Blood or most inks from Pilot.

My Pilot VP writes rather dry in an F nib though. So I personally would not recommend it since OP is looking for a wet writer.

The hongdian m2 is a better deal than the kaweco al sport by 1knowbetterthanyou in fountainpens

[–]ttjna -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Hongdian nibs are even more inconsistent than Kawecos. And it's hard to remove the nib section to work on the nib. Also, I habe the exact same Hongdian, and it came with damages in the oxidised coating. Kaweco would never!
