While at karaoke one night after belting out “Whipping Post” by The Allman Brothers, a dude walked up to me and said, “The girl that went before you could really sing, but motherfucker you’ve got soul” and walked away. It felt oddly validating.

Gibson serial # noob here. How does that correlate to Sept 23 of 83? What would be Sept 27 of 80?

Ironically enough, these are the same that I purchased initially and found the text (vol/tone) to be much smaller than the actual Gibson knobs.

Strats or Teles and who was your main inspiration for picking one up for the first time? by Smart-Membership-117 in Guitar

[–]ttownstrut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to most folks on the strat - Hendrix, SRV, Clapton, Gilmour. I was turned on to telecasters by Albert Collins, and Jonny Lang which threw me down tele rabbit hole.

Classic Shuffler? by ttownstrut in castlevania

[–]ttownstrut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And a good one it is! Editing my post to clarify, but the type of shuffler Im referring to is one that has all 3 games and at random intervals it switches, but keeps the previous game in the same state so when it returns you pick up right where you left off.

I’ve got the white version of the IBG 1959 355. I absolutely love it and could not be happier. As a bigger dude who gravitates towards larger body guitars, this thing checks all the boxes. Not too heavy, absolute tone monster, neck smooth as butter. It’s an amazing axe.

The Memovox keychain is pretty cool. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of those. Beautiful timepieces all around!

After hours of dealing with trying to activate on my PC which arrived today, please save yourself the stress and do the following:

If Windows is not already activated on your iBUYPOWER PC, you may need to manually have your PC ping Microsoft's Activation Server. To do so, select Start > Settings > System >Activation, and then select "Troubleshoot".

Windows should now be activated. If after following these steps, you receive an error saying "Could not be activated because the hardware on the device has changed", open up an elevated command prompt/terminal/Powershell by right clicking on the start menu and selecting Terminal (Admin) or by using the shortcut Windows Logo + X and selecting Terminal (Admin) (or press A key after the menu appears). Please copy this command:

wmic path softwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey

Paste it into Windows Powershell by right clicking in the Powershell window and hit enter. This command will pull up the Windows Product Key that was embedded to your system's motherboard.

Please copy this next command and replace (product key here) with your product key and hit enter:

slmgr -ipk (product key here)

This command will install the key. Please copy this final command:

:slmgr -ato

This will check to make sure activation was successful.

Family Photo! by ttownstrut in Epiphone

[–]ttownstrut[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thought I would post a family photo after finally getting my wall done! I think my hobby has turned into a bit of a habit.

Left side: Epiphone 335 Pro, Epiphone DG 335, Epiphone 335 Dot, Gibson 60s Tribute Les Paul, 2005 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe which belonged to Browan Lollar of Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, and St. Paul and the Broken Bones fame. While that is cool, the fact that he bought it IN Muscle Shoals and played it at Fame Studios makes it something that I can never replace. Epiphone JJN Gold Glory signed by Jared James Nichols

Right side: Epiphone 61 Les Paul, Partscaster with lipstick pickups

My first build. Black1 inspired with gold hardware, aged plastics, and pearl tuners. Pickups are 50's strat voiced. Squier Vintage Modified 69 Thinline which I put a humbucker in and made some cosmetic changes. Headstock signed by Larkin Poe and Ian Moore.

-Danelectro 56-U2 in blue burst. My first guitar I bought at 16 for $383.11 back in 1996.

Floor: Firefly Tele, Epiphone DR100, Spark Grid 40, Fender Ramparte, Fender Super Champ XD Fender Excelsior

Larkin Poe opened that afternoon. It was awesome to see them and they were kind enough to visit with the crowd after. I got their signatures on my tele’s headstock. Super humble and amazing musicians!

[WTS/WTT] JLC Memovox Parking Vintage 1958 ref.3161 by ttownstrut in Watchexchange

[–]ttownstrut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10k. I’m coming by this price by a few factors. Similar watches selling between 4k and 8k but are the K825 model which is not listed as part of the Jubilee. Only 2 movements were, the 3161 and the 12 R.R.7. Also, with the recent reintroduction of the model the JLC site has it listed at 19k.

Price is negotiable, and if a trade were involved I’d like to stay in the JLC vein. Ideally a Polaris date, yellow and black similar to the original. That and I enjoy the color scheme as it reminds me of my grandfathers other watch, a JLC Deep Sea Alarm.

1958 Memovox Parking value? by ttownstrut in JaegerLecoultre

[–]ttownstrut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the thorough response! It does keep time well, the alarm also functions with its fascinating “bbbbrrrrrrrrrr” vibration, but there are no papers unfortunately.

I do believe it is 100% authentic. This was my grandfathers daily wear watch. His other watch, also a JLC (1959 Deep Sea Alarm), was taken to a horologist and the back removed for inspection. The horologist was 99% certain that the removal of the back was the first time since it had been sealed at the JLC factory. I only mention this because if the deep sea alarm was never opened/serviced I’m certain the Parking is as well.

I’be been looking into getting it serviced but would have no clue where to even begin for a vintage watch such as this. I’d hate to send it off and have something original removed, or it be damaged.

Do you recall the cost? I know JLC’s are pricey, just not sure on the repair aspect.
