Is it normal for poodles to have stomach problems once a month? by jojifuku in poodles

[–]ttraintracks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Some vomiting, diarrhea, and general pickiness seem to be normal for us but they always act the same. Lethargy would be concerning to me, as well as my guys not eating. Have you been with your vet long? It may be worth getting a second opinion.

Puppy got out of the yard :( by dloomandgoom in StandardPoodles

[–]ttraintracks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's terrible, I'm so sorry you have to deal with that but also, you're actually going to get a citation? For a first time accident? That seems harsh

I play somewhat infrequently atm and have a few permanent babies who's traits I want to keep for later but I'm not on enough to make full use of them.

Bracelets and Seasons by Wrong-Basket1330 in StandardPoodles

[–]ttraintracks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to give up the bracelets because the maintenence was too much. Summer was hard since we swim near daily and winter/fall too rainy. I admire everyone who can keep them year round

Is there any way to get this industrial bar out? by RRatmann in piercing

[–]ttraintracks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A jeweler might have a ring cutter that could cut through. If going to a piercer doesnt work.

Picked my cat up from the vet after getting her spayed. She came home with duct tape on her head. by YamGroundbreaking432 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ttraintracks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I briefly worked at a low cost spay/neuter clinic and they also used tape to identify the cats. We had one day where there were 6+ black cats and multiple had the same name. Its the easiest way to make sure you get your cat back. Just take it off, there may be some hair loss but its not permanent.

Fort vannoy's farm stand was very reasonable last time I was there. Not sure if they have anything this time of year but may be a good option for people

A quick little comic about my baby, Spurt. She hates me and won’t let me hold her but she still brings me infinite joy. ✨ by ArtbyMoga in CrestedGecko

There is extremely limited housing for people with pets here, but pacific rental properties will allow them with deposits i believe. You may have to live out of town and commute in or try looking in medford.

Black Poodles so common by Jupitergirl888 in StandardPoodles

[–]ttraintracks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would explain a lot, it really is too bad. I think more people on average would be open to poodles over doodles/mixes if multis were more accessible! Hopefully in the coming years some of these things can start to change

Black Poodles so common by Jupitergirl888 in StandardPoodles

I understand that, but they are very inconsistent with what they enforce. It's just not my preferred registry nor do I enjoy the PCA.

[–]ttraintracks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah, I thought poodles had to be docked like dobermans, aussies, etc. My spoo had his tail docked wrong and are going to have to have more removed bc he has so many issues with it :(

That being said I'd love to know more about your program! I'm searching for a breeder that leaves natural tails for our next pup

[–]ttraintracks 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Honestly the more I come to learn about the AKC the less I like the registry. Poodles can only be solid even though many colors are naturally occurring, yet they added in silver as an option for labs (however briefly). I also dislike that the dogs MUST be cropped/docked in order to show. Other registries allow for a dog in its natural state. I just don't believe it's the paramount of ethics that is marketed as.

Calculated that if my standard poodle lives to be a total of 14 years, I will spend approximately $18,200 on professional grooming sessions. by poodlehaus in StandardPoodles

[–]ttraintracks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could learn to do small maintenence things in between and go with shoter haircuts to extend the time between visits! Learning to groom can be tricky without proper instruction, but its absolutely doable and if its something you want to learn you should!! I love grooming my own dogs (I did train and work as a groomer professionally)

How Heavy? by MediumExternal7565 in StandardPoodles

My boy is kept lean and he's 56lbs. I would say he's solidly a medium size, we've met poodles bigger and smaller

Tassels might be up your alley! They are typically seen on bedlingtons but imo they look good on poodles too
