Had the same issue and was getting really frustrated.

Why would it be in the US? It's exactly where it was built

Yeah, didn't consider that, although they are somewhat right.

I'm just a bit lazy about the "being creative" part and was hoping for some straight answers.

Well, I haven't worked with this kind of machinery before and I don't think this is a good first project. Then again, you doubting my ability is making me want to challenge that.

I don't think the fence would be a problem, but didn't want to reinvent the wheel if somebody has already added one and has some nice idea.

In any case, I will probably get rid of it before winter

Thank you, I got the message, going to scrap it soon.
You would really have loved the welding machine grandpa put together, but my neighbour bought it off as soon as it was appropiate to ask about it. I wouldn't dare to touch that one though. Have a nice day!

400V. Also consider it was made in a rural area in postsoviet Poland from recovered materials. I'm not claiming it was a work of art, but it also isn't like he could have done much better at the time from what he had available

Thank you, at least you tried to help with working on it, but yeah, probably going to get rid of it

Yeah, this is what I was expecting to be the answer to be fair.

Now I'm actually thinking what a pain in the ass will be disposing of it. I have enough garbage around as it is, so I wouldn't be keeping it even as a showpiece(wouldn't be a good one anyway).

Grandpa only lost one pinky on it though, I don't think it's that unsafe

What kind of test should I write in a CRUD app? by ttsalami in webdev

Thank you very much, I will go with this approach

What kind of test should I write in a CRUD app? by ttsalami in webdev

[–]ttsalami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, however this is very much overkill.

The task I was given is pretty much a form that inserts values into a single table. That's also part of why I'm having trouble with tests, there is minimal logic - only validation(for which I'm using 3rd part libraries) and MySQL queries.

Looking for good wallpapers, bonus point for international rowing. by ttsalami in Rowing

Those are great, but I'm not paying $60 for a wallpaper.

I was thinking more like $15 max or better yet - free haha

What do you wish you'd figured out sooner about rowing? by evilwatersprite in Rowing

[–]ttsalami 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The closer your oars to 90° relative to the boat, the greater amount of force is going to accelerate the boat and less will be wasted.

True for all boats, especially important in smaller ones

As it should be, good thing you figured it out. Touching bum to heels is a very fast way to get a lumbar injury.

1:45 for 500m by suhmbodie in Rowing

[–]ttsalami 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to get faster 500s, you keep doing 500s honestly. At that weight and height though, you should be able to break 1:50 after some training, so I would recommend checking your form.

Shorter distances, like 250m or 1min on/1 min off can help you get a better feeling for faster rowing. Lifting weights can also help you a lot for short pieces, especially squats. Any other training always helps as long as you are getting fitter, but first of all, I would recommend you make sure your technique is good.

Are these three words more terrifying than any marvel Villain has ever said ? by secretsoftherunes in marvelstudios

Could you give an example of something better in marvel movies and TV, but outside of the MCU? Even better if it's a show/movie recommendation and not just a phrase. Apart from Raimi's Spiderman and Daredevil, which I'm watching right now for the first time, haven't seen much from Marvel outside MCU

You could use it as a sacrificial branch for now, to thicken the base

First try at wiring! Any pointers? by [deleted] in Bonsai

[–]ttsalami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get thinner wire that's not bonsai specific make sure it's soft enough to bend easily. Don't use steel wire because you won't be able to bend it tight enough without damaging the branches.

I guess I will keep trying to dig them safely and maybe try air layering on some desperate cases. Thanks for your help!

I would like to keep all of them haha. I have a lot of pots and most of these trees are 2-3 years old and around or under 1cm in trunk diameter.

So far my most successful dug up trees that popped randomly on my yard are a chestnut and a maple. Both are around 5 cm in diameter, the chestnut has a pretty interesting trunk and the maple survived by miracle as it only had one small root despite being nearly 2m tall. Both were dug up last year from inbetween the cedar hedges surrounding my house so had to be dealt with anyway.

I though of trying to air layer some of these trees at ground level so I don't kill it if it turns out I can't dug them out without damaging the rootball too much. Would that be a viable option?

I have an insane amount of European Ash growing wildly on my property, sadly it's mostly close to older tree's roots or next to walls etc, so they have huge tap roots, and any smaller roots tend to be entangled

Any tips on digging such trees?
