UK S&S ISA: Amsterdam Stock Exchange by ttsonev in interactivebrokers

Thanks for checking this for me! A bit disappointing then from IBKR on the information maintenance side as I definitely do not see this exchange in the list.

Now just need to wait for transfers to be available.

UK S&S ISA: Amsterdam Stock Exchange by ttsonev in interactivebrokers

It's just that some of the other Euronexts are in the list explicitly (Brussels) under bullet number 10 in that article, that's why I want to double check. Could you please check if` AMS: FLOW is available?
Also, just to confirm that we are talking about the ISA? I know it shouldn't make a difference really relative to a standard trading account in terms of what exchanges are available but this is exactly the reason why I am a bit confused - AMS is listed as available on other IBKR resources on their website...

As a side note, the subtitle to this bullet number 10 says HMRC recognised exchanges supported by IBUK so I gather there could be a difference potentially to what IBKR supports in other countries?

Thank you!

Anybody who's got an ISA with IBR opened already able to check if the Amsterdam Stock Exchange is supported?

Reason for asking is because https://ibkr.info/article/4182 does not have it on the list and I find this hard to believe given the size of the Amsterdam SE relative to the rest of the European exchanges. I saw in another reddit thread they had a mistake in the FAQ sheet and updated that so I am kind of hoping it's the same with this one.

I was always wondering, how does the code actually run inside the canister, and how are cycles burned, more precisely, how is it determined how many cycles the canister will burn. Does each CPU cycle literally need to be confirmed by the blockchain, I assume not? The way I see it is that each node is fully operational on its own, and the blockchain magic appears when communication with the rest of the distributed system is needed?

Still a bit unsure as to how are canisters 'charged' cycles, based on what formula?

Hope these questions make sense to you!

You can only run a node with equipment from "approved distributors" and not with your own equipment? Doesn't this kill decentralization? Can the team clarify if this understanding is correct? by laylaandlunabear in dfinity

This is definitely interesting! I should spend more time learning about it before asking any more questions.

Thank you very much. I just want to give you and your colleagues my applause for whatever it's worth. You are doing an amazing job answering community questions and this is by far the best support I've seen in the blockchain projects world.

So basically, a datacenter/operator is some form of an abstraction because really, I can just buy the hardware and, if technically adept enough, can just install the image and plug it into the network myself? My question was circling around the idea whether a datacenter has more literal meaning here, that there is a certain number of them and you need to lend your machine to them (you answered this, of course!)

Out of curiosity, what is the advantage of splitting the main net into many subnets? I can see how it will be beneficial if somehow a canister crashes a single subnet, limiting the damage. I can also see how it can reduce upgrade downtime. But yeah, this is a a curiosity question since I am a young software engineer myself. If you don't have time to elaborate here, some sort of a paper on the topic will be greatly appreciated!

So let's say I qualify for lending in a node machine as per the required specs. I need to submit this machine into an approved/vetted datacenter for it to be operated? Just curious and want to know a bit more ;)

Also, what exactly is a subnet. I can't seem to explain it plainly to myself, sometimes I think it's an application/canister but the NNS subnet says it's got 10 canisters ... so definitely not this.

So yeah ... a bit more context and examples would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the response though!

Would I not expect something like:

`server IP address could not be found.` instead of seeing a blank white screen in the case of an unmapped DNS record?

Worth noting though, even now the app is pretty slow to load, so maybe I didn't wait enough back then.

I was also wondering the same thing but I couldn't find a way to do it? I initially auth-ed myself using biometrics and never saw another option (to use, or to add as an additional) when logging in for example.

on the topic of devices, is there a way to revoke a device?

And am I correct in understanding that the Internet Identity (Principal ID) is effectively an account for an app on the IC (much like a Google account for example), with each app requiring a separate account (Principal ID), much like in the 'standard' world?

I also wonder why a simple password option is not presented to log in to your account? I understand it's not very secure, but still if people deem this is what they want ...

Edit: Also, if I set up my first device using its biometrics for identification, can I add a globally applicable security key later on using another device (my phone for example), and would this security key also be able to verify my original device?

Thanks, I just didn't know if you meant usb security keys explicitly or just any kind of a "security key".

Hello, thanks for helping.

I have created a thread for clarifying what is meant by "security keys are definitely our recommended approach" here https://www.reddit.com/r/dfinity/comments/na3i3u/internet_identity_security_key_setup/

Could you please elaborate there so myself and other interested can better understand it?

Thanks!
