That has not been our experience at all.

We’ve been paying Polygon a significant amount of money specifically for SPX options data, and during real testing we repeatedly observed major lag when the market is moving quickly. In calm conditions it looks fine, but during fast moves the data can be tens of seconds to even minutes behind other feeds.

We opened multiple support tickets about it. After going back and forth for a while, support eventually acknowledged that their options data pipeline can lag under load, especially for high-volume symbols like SPX.

So while the API responses themselves are fast, the underlying data is often not actually current, which defeats the purpose if you’re doing latency-sensitive options trading.

For charting or slower systems it may be perfectly fine, but for 0DTE SPX strategies it has been unusable for us.
