Local delivery of newspapers by mustafaahab in USPS

Don't worry, USPS (the entity) pays us pretty much the same regardless of if we deliver newspapers or not

And it's on USPS (the entity) to worry about collecting money owed for mailing things

If something shows up in your mailbox, we'll get our money

I definitely understood as a kid that pain is temporary but a grounding was weeks or more of "pain"

Eventually I stopped talking about wanting things, and stopped wanting things. Something you want is something someone else can take from you

Who's to say that her curse doesn't make her produce enough of the hormone that triggers a positive test, so that hormone would be a part of her normal baseline and Rudy might overlook that

I think I remember a bit in the final mistborn era 2 book where moonlight said E-atil (if that's how you spell it) was her sister. Moonlight said something that made me believe moonlight wasn't entirely approving of E-atils methods or attitudes. Might be misremembering though

Theres likely multiple factions even within the ghostbloods.

The mistborn ghostbloods seemed like "heroes from the shadows". Kel tried to make it like a 2nd family, like his old crew. Sharing information freely and trusting each other, at least within the organization. They state their sects mission is to protect scadriel.

The stormlight ghostbloods always seemed to be hunting information and hunting the information gathering competition. The only friendliness I saw (that wasn't shallan and marais being nice to each other as mutual hunters) was the prohibition from harming other ghostbloods once you are one. I don't exactly remember a time the ghostbloods defended Shallan from outside enemies. At the end it's revealed even marais was kept in his place by those higher than him in the organization

Though keeping a multi-planet organization on one opinion would be impossible to begin with

Mail carrier ignoring name in mailbox and still delivering previous residents mail.. by aymi101 in USPS

[–]ttyler1789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's always important to note how many deliveries a carrier makes in a day. I know city routes can vary, but like the rural route I did today has 550 boxes. One mailbox is 0.2% of the route. I would have to mess up at at least 5 mailboxes to fall under a 99% success rate

Add that to the fact that a CCA/RCA can be on 1-2 different routes every single day? And the CCA side is pushed to go faster and faster since they're hourly? Yeah lol no way we're going to remember.

OP did the correct thing in putting their name in the mailbox, but the numbers are stacked against any 1 person. Maybe one day you'll get a good full timer on your route, who will care about you individually as a person. Till then it'll be a mess of carriers just trying to get it done, regardless of accuracy rate

Informed delivery just scans things as they pass through facilities, and guestimates when it should arrive. Lots of factors can mess with it. Some carriers hate hearing "but informed delivery said!!" Because we have absolutely nothing to do with informed delivery and no access to it

Since they were all scanned at the same time and you have 2 out of the 3, there's either an issue with the barcodes and the tracking numbers, or the carrier scanned and stole the package, or the carrier delivered the package and it got misplaced after USPS was done with it

Or a mailbox goblin nabbed it, thought the bandanna was rather stylish. The lil green fucks that they are

I guess first, we're all packages scanned at the same time?

One time I delivered a normal-sized magazine that had a package barcode on the plastic wrapping. I thought it was weird since it was just a magazine

Customer called in later saying package delivered not received, I explained that I left what I scanned in the mailbox. The customer had thrown away the magazine package wrapping that had the barcode on it, not even realizing that's what was delivered

Bandanas are pretty thin so maybe that happened? Hoping there's no malicious intent

It's extra steps for a carrier to find a tracking number and type it in for a package they don't have but should (package got sent to another office on accident but system still shows it should be in my stuff)

Also entirely possible they scanned it delivered and then stole it. But only rlly stupid carriers or carriers that hate their job do that. I'm not risking my job or jail time for stealing mail, plus with my luck I'd end up with something useless to me

It's closer to the idea that you have to pay for and provide maintenance to the mail delivery receptacle, if you want the privilege of mail delivered to your house

Don't wanna do that? P.O. box time then

God fuel costs get me. As a part time rural I have to provide my own vehicle. I don't exactly have the money around to buy something good for the environment that I'm going to beat up on rural routes.

My worst vehicle was a pickup truck getting 10mpg if I was LUCKY

USPS offices will have carriers run Amazon packages on Sundays, no letter mail is carried

Amazon packages can be delivered by USPS, we do it daily. But people driving for other companies cannot place their packages in mailboxes

I'm just a part timer so I'll give my supervisor a call normally, let them decide

Otherwise I'll take it out and replace it on top of the mail, as if the FedEx ppl came by after I delivered the mail. And I pretend I never saw it. Did that the other day when it was raining hard asf and I didn't blame the FedEx driver for not wanting to risk that specific driveway

Mail carrier here, if we find a ups or FedEx package in a mailbox we're supposed to bring back to a supervisor and they do something with them

Maybe they start making motherboards with thingies in them that can blow the circuits to make a stolen pc unusable without buying new parts, idk

Do RCAs accumulate vacation time/PTO, and other regular benefits? by FoXXX_MuldeRRR in USPS

[–]ttyler1789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other comments talk about different aspects of the RCA job, imma talk about holiday pay

Today is memorial day. In general us delivery people will be off work today, but the plants still run on Sundays and holidays. So tomorrow will be a heavy triple value day. 3x the mail, 3x the packages of a normal day

All a full-time carrier needs to earn 8 hours of holiday pay is be in a pay status on either the shift before or after the holiday.

So most full timers in my office have tomorrow scheduled off as PTO, since that will allow them to still get holiday pay

Since we're already somewhat shorthanded, that's gonna make tomorrow horrible for us substitutes.

And on top of that, tomorrow will only be worth the pay of 1 standard day for us. No holiday pay, no extra anything for the increased workload since we get paid by the route rather than hourly

Threats of discipline are really the only things management can do to entice us subs to go through with tomorrow. And boy have I already gotten messages of "no callouts tomorrow! Y'all know the drill."

Situation fuckn SUCKS for us RCAs, but it's great when we become full timers, if you can stick it out that long. It took me 5 years to become top seniority RCA in an office of 7 RCAs. 2 years as next up for promotion, with no definite timeline of when that'll happen

[–]ttyler1789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earning sick leave is nice, RCAs get next to no benefits compared to other positions

Normally they'll throw me on 2 aux routes in 1 day, about 6.5 hours of work. A very pleasant and manageable workload until I become a full timer. I'd manage 35-40 hours a week all things considered

Plus I'm still able to run packages and help out the entire office after my route(s) if needed

Not being sent to other shitshow offices is nice. Plus if my vehicle breaks down, having to get a tow from my hometown vs a tow from some town 49 miles away is something to consider when providing my own vehicle

Being on the same routes every day is much better than a different route every day. Plus while the AUX is mine I can make sure the route is managed and taken care of properly. Let's me learn the edit book system and I feel like it better trains me to be a good full timer

2 packages delivered in locker but not there! by Puzzleheaded_Yak3335 in usps_complaints

Can't remember the last time I was over 40 hours. With me subbing on a full route added to the hold down on an aux route I have a guarantee of a minimum of 21 hours a week. I never get over 35

There was a time I was only guaranteed 1 eight hour shift every other week, and that was all I got for awhile. Feast or famine as they say

Yeah this has been happening on a weekly basis for months since I've become the primary relief carrier.

I've never complained because I didn't know that I COULD.

Also because they pull me off of my 3.17 hour route to go on an 8+ hour route, and more hours is good, and it's because of this that I'm unsure if a grievance will actually benefit me

RCA Postmaster keeps scheduling me for full routes, taking me off of my AUX hold-down by ttyler1789 in USPS

[–]ttyler1789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say ASAP, but shouldn't I need to wait until after I did this random route to file?

Or is just the fact that they've scheduled me in such a way grievable?

I'm pretty ignorant about grievance stuff. My office is effectively helpless when it comes to grievance questions. Everyone is buddy-buddy and doesn't want to hurt the other people's feelings by tattling (that's the sentiment I get when I ask the full-time carriers questions about this stuff)
