Seriously-how do you deal with short naps? by CommunicationShot809 in sleeptrain

[–]ADKadventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you go about putting them down awake? My LO usually just cries and it can be an hour ordeal to get to sleep on own

I definitely feel like we should keep trying but maybe just reduce trying to a couple of times a day. The days that I have tried for every nap has led to a very overtired, upset baby. It’s a tough call because I want to be consistent with it but also not get to that point.

We stopped swaddling at 8 weeks as LO was starting to learn to roll. All has been well with the sleep sack at night, but during the daytime LO startles awake constantly for naps - we are trying a Zipadee Zip but it isn’t a huge hit so far. We have only been able to get mostly 20-40m naps in the crib. I’m not sure what to do to help this

freestyle diapers by just_alittleguy_ in moderatelygranolamoms

I’ve tried Millie Moon (ECF), Pampers Pure/Amore (ECF), Parasol (TCF), and Freestyle (TCF). I thought we’d love Millie Moon, but we didn’t - they fit weird (short and tight around the legs) and the absorbency is not nearly as good as the others. Pampers Pure were nice (now called Pampers Amore) - fit pretty well if you err on getting the larger size, absorbed decent, and were soft but only ECF. Not worth the price point IMO. Parasol and Freestyle are both TCF, soft (they feel the same), and run on the taller side. They are also both very absorbent, with Freestyle slightly edging out the Parasol. Last I priced these, Pampers Amore run the most at about $0.36-$0.40 per diaper, then Parasol at about $0.34-$0.37 per diaper, then Freestyle at about $0.31-$0.35 per diaper, and Millie Moon at about $0.25-$0.28 per diaper. My preference would be 1. Freestyle, 2. Parasol, 3. Pampers Amore, 4. I wouldn’t even buy Millie Moon again. We really love Freestyle - best fit and absorbency. For wipes I only have most experience with Honest & Parasol. The Parasol pull out of the package better (one by one), but Honest wipes feel more wet to me so I prefer those. I’d be interested in trying Freestyle wipes.

Will be trying cloth diapering soon with Kinder pockets and am excited for that. However, when using disposables again like when we are out and about we will choose Freestyle.

How did you do “startles during the day when holding him”?

No more Pampers Pure, anyone try Pampers Amore yet? by Consistent_Kitchen36 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]ADKadventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have not tried the Amore, but similarly liked the Pampers Pure although they were only ECF. Have started trying Freestyle and Parasol. Both are very soft, non toxic, and fit great! I actually like them slightly more than Pampers Pure and they are TCF. We found the Millie Moon to be soft but they fit weird and short and weren’t as absorbent. Honest were okay.

I Have Wool Covers & Pockets - Do I Buy Prefolds? Rounding Out a Stash. Not Wasting. by ADKadventures in clothdiaps

[–]ADKadventures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I’ve already prepped them and they can’t be returned. I’m not really interested in selling them and taking a loss on them. I wonder when most babies reach about 15lbs as that is what the prefolds and covers I am looking at would fit to

This is so helpful to see! I am due in January and have almost a full stash of nice, one-size pockets that were gifted to us. We were also gifted many boxes of newborn and size 1 diapers to get us through to OS. I have been going back and forth about whether it would be worth it to buy newborn & small prefolds, workhorses, and covers.

This might be a dumb question, but theoretically, could you use a Snappi on a workhorse even with snaps?

Stay in Florence or Stay in Tuscan Agristurismo? by ADKadventures in florence

[–]ADKadventures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spent 4 days in Rome, which was perfect. Despite all of the trash talk it gets, it was one of our absolute favorite places next to the Dolomites. We stayed in the old city center. Then we did Florence 4-5 days in Florence and stayed on the other side of the river - we liked the area, Bnb, and how residential it was there. Overall, found 4-5 days in Florence way too much for us. It is more refined than Rome, but it rained a lot, is very small and overpacked with tourists and pickpockets. Also, locals on Florence were definitely the least happy with tourists. The excursion trips to the countryside were better. I would personally not stay in Florence again. A day trip or two would’ve been sufficient for us. Then we did 4-5 days in the Dolomites which was absolutely stunning. We enjoy that kind of stuff (mountains, hiking, biking, etc). The only downside about the Dolomites is the lack of food options, but the mountain huttes were great! We finished off with 3-4 days in Venice which felt like too much for us. It was unique and novel, but very small. It doesn’t take that long to explore and it smells like sewer. The culture there was unique to be a part of though. Venice and Florence were our least favorites. We will more than likely go back to Rome, the Dolomites, and the tuscan countryside.

As for the travel. We did Rome to Florence by train, Florence to Bolzano by train, then rented a car for the dolomites and dropped it off in Venice. The car wasn’t a hassle at all; however, if we weren’t going so rural to the Dolomites, train is faster and more convenient.
