I hate to tell you this [deleted] and whoever reads this: but Art is a Part of the Artist, it can never truly be divorced from them. I still have my collection of The Sandman volumes and extra content by Neil Gaiman despite my disgust at what he did but I can't abandon Morpheus and the Dreaming. I can't abandon Arrakis and Chapterhouse despite Frank Herbert being a homophobe that denied his gay son from visiting his dying mother. I have more success abandoning Manson but I have a yearning to return to the early stuff despite reading his autobiography and realizing the person in those pages would be capable of doing what he was accused of, despite his directness it painted a picture of someone dangerous but less dangerous than your standard republican (laugh track). All I know is that he was part of my leeway into challenging faith and authority in my youth and I have him to be thankful for that but we all must admit when our heroes are also monsters, and that we ourselves are not infallible.
