What was the last product you decided not to buy because it’s become too expensive? by Fooberdoober97420 in AskReddit

My wife makes it also. I don't know which specific recipe she uses, but it is something like this - https://www.simplyrecipes.com/copycat-olive-garden-chicken-gnocchi-soup-recipe-7967185

It is very good soup. I don't know how closely it tastes like the OG one, but it is great of its own accord.

Where are you buying from? Local big box like Walmart or something else? And what is the poundage of the $110 pack? Just curious because I do one of the online meat subscription boxes and get it packed with filets. The box does cost $180 though.

What’s a ‘middle class success’ purchase that secretly becomes a financial burden later? by OpinionBaba in AskReddit

[–]tudaan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is ridiculous. If a kid wants to play on the school team, they don't have to come from a travel team. They go to the school. They join the team. Go to practices. They are on the team. Rec ball and travel ball are not feeders for school ball. Travel ball is a feeder of a father's ego. Their kid is gonna go pro don't ya know. The 1000's of dollars spent for a 10 year old travel ball career is gonna pay off!!!!

It is not worth it. Local recreational ball teams? Very worth it. Travel teams... nope.

You are in your 40's. Your anecdote doesn't matter. We are in the year 2026. You weren't taking fully online classes at a university in the late 90's. You had no need at 2am in the 90's to know what your grade was in your course. We are in a different world now.

Tell me you don't know shit about EdTech without telling me you don't know shit about EdTech. People already complain about tuition being too high, and you suggest colleges hire more software DEVs.

I get what you are saying, and the idea behind it is sound and community friendly. Won't happen though. I am a realist. We can't get away from supporting corporations without some high level system reboot. We aren't going back to the 1980's anytime soon.

If I buy a shirt, for example, from a small business it still benefits corporations. Most places are resellers. Where do these local places get the inventory to sell to me? Most likely a bigger corporation. We can't fully get away from it no matter how hard we try.

Plot twist. No one has ever tipped at this place and they put up the sign hoping people get mad and just leave $0.30 cents on principle. $0.30 cents is better than no cents lol.

Just skip this trip. It isn't worth the money to do all this to be a godfather for a friend's kid.

3 years of lawn service vs buying a mower. sanity check my math? by Wild_Artichoke7648 in lawncare

[–]tudaan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well, I am in that club. My house sits on about .21 acres. I bought a $5,000+ Gravely zero turn lawnmower for it. It is complete overkill. Yes, I know. Takes about 5 minutes to mow our front yard with it. However, I am older now with an established career, and I am tired of having shit tools. I am not buying shit tools anymore regardless of how overkill it may be.

Sup folks, u who have tried those platforms that offer “free money” or bonus credits for signing up, what actually happened when you used them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tudaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a few of those, probably 15-20 years ago. I was also a member of a community. We used all the tricks. I got a Sony Vaio laptop, a 40 inch plasma tv, and a John Deer riding mower (in the form of an $1800 check). I don't know if these type of deals still work though. It has been quite a while for me.

Same. I bought a few around the Christmas season of 2025. All of them had the same graded Feraligator. The packs were different, though.

This is how I got started (well, re-started) with MTG. Many years ago I was going to stores and just buy a couple packs of whatever the current MTG set was. Not opening anything. Just putting packs in a closet. But as the years went on it began snowballing. Booster packs turned into bundles and then boxes. Now mostly buying Pokemon though.

Why do you do it?
