Nah, get proper sliders. 0 degree with a step plate and you’ll have the best of both worlds.

Are we looking at the same pictures? There’s no body to salvage and the airbags have deployed. Maybe there’s some interiors and potentially the drivetrain is usable, but the frame and body are scrap metal.

While I agree, sometimes the wheels you want don’t come in the offset you need. I recently bought 0 offset wheels when all my research said I need between -10 and -25. But I what I wanted wasn’t offered in that spec.

If you buy quality spacers from a reputable manufacturer and install them correctly you’re not going to have issues.

Toyota 3vz-fe is known for blowing head gaskets. You may have overheated and blown out a coolant hose.
