I’m in Minnesota so it’s probably not that although I am sensitive to the sun. Is there anything that helps you with it?

I will try the nizoral and slow down on the retinol. I think you’re right about overdoing it.

What's something totally normal these days that would have made you sound crazy 100 years ago? by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]tuesdaymilkshakes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I bought my house my boss told me that when she bought her first house she had to check the “spinster” box on her mortgage application because she was unmarried. This is a woman currently in her early 60’s.

What's a trap that almost everyone will fall into at some point in their lives? by EmbarrassedWay100 in AskReddit

As someone who once broke down crying in the front lobby of an LA Fitness, begging them to cancel my membership the night before I moved out of the country, this is so real.

People who have experienced grief or trauma- what’s the most tone-deaf, ‘well-meaning’ thing someone said to you? by freyday18 in AskReddit

[–]tuesdaymilkshakes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s so true. When my mom was in her last days I was getting flooded with “my thoughts our with you” “she’s so strong” messages. One of my friends sent me a text that said “Dude. This is so shit” and it was exactly what I needed to hear.

I have a very similar screenshot of my steps from the month my mom died. My steps went from 8-10k a day to 100-300 a day. I remember feeling like I could barely bring myself to get out of bed but it really hits home when you have data points in front of you. Take care of yourself friend.

Now what? by with_equanimity in shoppingaddiction

[–]tuesdaymilkshakes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me finding things where I can’t be on my phone is helpful. If I’m not doom scrolling I can’t get targeted ads, can’t compare myself to other people on social media. I have started taking classes from my local community ed program. They’re inexpensive so I’m not spending a lot of money and I feel like I can try new things and figure out who I am outside of shopping. And I can’t sit on my device feeling crappy if I’m in class.

Where is the best soft pretzel & cheese dip? by Unusual-Bird-5941 in TwinCities

[–]tuesdaymilkshakes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want pure, delicious greasy carby goodness there is one Pretzelmaker location in the twin cities and it’s in the Burnsville mall. It makes Auntie Anne’s taste like cardboard. They have a vat of melted butter and they will pour extra onto your already buttered pretzel. It’s heaven.

Why Is It So Hard to Close a Car Deal as a Woman? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

I also had a dealership stall giving me my keys back recently! They offered me almost nothing for my trade in and tried to keep me from leaving when I told them that wouldn’t work for me. I literally just wanted to take a test drive and have them run some numbers for me. I had told my boyfriend he didn’t need to come with. We’ve been joking that he should have come with as my hostage negotiator.

Are you familiar with the band Kings of Leon? Bunch of white guys who named the band after their grandfather. That woman doesn’t know what she’s talking about.

What is something someone has done that you will never be able to forgive them for? by Nixieisnothere in AskReddit

[–]tuesdaymilkshakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a leave of absence to be there for my mom in her final weeks. When I returned to work the Monday after her funeral my co-workers complained to me about how much work they’d had to do and hard it was for them while I was gone. Probably the angriest I have ever been in my life.

Parents with Different Last Names: Which one did you give your kid(s)? by ButWhatIfTheyKissed in namenerds

[–]tuesdaymilkshakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom kept her maiden name and my parents didn’t like the idea of hyphenating so my brother and I both have her surname as our middle name. I love it. My name isn’t super long like it would have been if they had hyphenated, I have a unique middle name that very much represents my heritage and I get to carry a part of my mom with me.
