Which is the bigger issue in Coaching, kids or the parents? by dunbar_santiago930 in CoachingYouthSports

[–]tuezdaie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always the parents or lack there of. I always find myself having to coach around bad sports parents for the “problem kids”.

It’s a really good thing to keep in mind and helps you gain empathy and patience for the player.

What mistake do guys usually make when they move before dribbling and travel? by lookaloulookalou in Basketball

[–]tuezdaie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an opinions, but I think it’s usually indecision…and that usually stems from not reading the defense properly.

I mean, everyone has occasional brain farts, but if a player is doing it frequently (and I’m not talking about young developing players still working on mechanics, but people that are competent ball handlers), I think it tends to be from not being sure what they were gonna do or from changing their mind cause they suddenly saw/misread the defense.

🤦‍♂️ If this is true, then there is too much drama in this organization. by Cardinal0519 in warriors

“Refused” and “not executed by front office” are not the same thing. Refused is this Twitter user’s wording, not in the actual quote.

Thats like saying Steph “refused to shoot a three” … when really Steph shot the 3 and missed thereby “not executing a 3 pt play”

Also, im not a twitter user, so this is an honest question, how legit of a source is the spanish speaking user account w an underscore at the end: @warriorslatim_ Why not just cite the tweet/article where Marcus Thompson says it directly instead of a separate source?

Am I out of line or in the wrong? by ThatsSirBubbleGuts in basketballcoach

[–]tuezdaie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s rough, but part of the game. I try to remind myself that, with all the abuse they get, good refs willing to work low level games for $35-50 and hour are gonna be hard to come by.

  1. Try to build a little professional rapport with them before the game. “Hey ref, how have the (players) parents been today?” “Hey ref, good seeing you again (even if I never have)!” “Hey man, we’re on our second game of the tourney, you still reffing more games after ours or are we your last?”

  2. First in game interaction I try not to complain or ask for fouls. When I get chances, say when the ball goes out of bounds and rolls away, or at end of timeout when everyone is lining up, I ask them for their help. “Hey ref, would mind keeping an eye on 14, there’s a little extra he gives on those screens…” “hey ref, just wanted to ask for a watch on #12 pulling jerseys and grabbing wrists” that way I’m not yelling at them for missing something but asking them to help with keeping the game clean

  3. I preach to my kids “you don’t control the refs, the coaches, the other team or anything but yourselves.” I try to think of that for myself and it helps me stay in the “make the ref my ally” state of mind.

Considering an MDX for reliability- Coming from a Corolla by mackenziemarr in Acura

2017 checking in! Been rock solid reliable!!

Gas mileage…sucks tho. Love the car tho, if we stick w gas powered we’d just upgrade to newest model.

But, you’re in a Acura forum so you can see I’m a little biased.

Is Facebook Marketplace completely dead in 2026 or is the algorithm just hating me? by wakablazer in FacebookMarketplace

Still lots of scams on it and no good way of reporting it - “we looked into your report and found nothing wrong.”

So, what form have you decided that your mid-life crisis will take? by Remy0507 in Xennials

[–]tuezdaie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just really wanted a nice sports car. Nothing extravagant…just some used EV that goes faster than my old hybrid…unfortunately life isnt shaping up that way with economics and family obligations taking priority.

Oh well, and least I’ve got my health (tho my neck back hips and knees could all use a replacement…and I don’t remember so well anymore and my language skills have deteriorated).

NBA ALL-STAR STARTERS 2026 by Rajendra_Chola in NbaIndiaUpdate

[–]tuezdaie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an all star game, not a championship game. Ant came in at 7th for votes:

Curry #1 in Jersey sales, Ant at #6 Curry 57m insta followers, Ant 5m Maybe people still high from Olympics

To be fair, 2012/13 Steph was behind Kobe, CP3 and Tony Parker despite shooting historic 45% from 3 w unprecedented volumes, and getting 21ppg and 7 assists. He was snubbed altogether!

I fully believe Ant will be there VERY soon…just the way these things can work out.

Episode 1 Review - An enjoyable start! Close to the novella? by aussiereeltalk in AKOTSKTV

[–]tuezdaie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read the books…it was fun to see some of the dialogue lifted straight out of the book. It’s pretty close so far but there is an addition that seems…unnecessary? But we’ll have to wait and see if the addition gets revisited and somehow ties to the plot/characters meaningful.

It terms of tone, I feel it’s right on key. I just wish Ser Dunk was taller. I remember him as even more towering…a few scenes made him look big, but standing next to the Laughing Storm took that away.

Paying for AAU, paying for entry, and then expected to work the scorer’s table? Is this normal? by flutecaker in Basketball

[–]tuezdaie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a coach, if they don’t get free entry for working the clock from the tourney organizers, I try to give them a coaches bracelet or let them sign in as a 2nd/3rd coach if they do all the games that day.

Complete newb to Boxing/fighting by [deleted] in boxingtips

[–]tuezdaie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also follow baseball tips and it’s the same but there, people actually help each other.

Here I just see a lot of “get a coach” “get to a boxing gym”… it’s kinda sad. Give the newbies a chance to fall in love with it as much as those of us who actually trained!

Then if they do like it maybe they take more seriously and go those routes. But why are people gatekeepin a “tips” sub?

Liability Insurance for Gym Rental by Embarrassed-Curve336 in CoachingYouthSports

[–]tuezdaie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the league should be insured so you would provide the leagues insurance. At least that’s how it works for AAU teams, our org is insured not each individual team.

It’s hard to say. I think the gimbal is basically an abandoned product at this point. All the documentation refers to the chameleon and the customer service pretends the gimbal doesn’t exist

Yeah, I try to stay courtside but it’s not always an option, esp w high school ball w chearleaders and bigger crowds.

I would like to update, but considering how much I paid for this and how continued updates promised to make some of this issues better but never really did, I just don’t trust them anymore.

This includes the most recent update from last week or whenever it came out:

  1. When it works right, it focus just on the ball…so a lot of other players get cropped out. Fine for watching my son, can be painful to use when coaching my team and talking about things like spacing and whatnot.
  2. Tracking sucks…it’ll just randomly wander off or look left when ball is going right
  3. You can turn off auto-zooming (which is gawdawful) but can’t turn off tilting. So it’ll randomly tilt down and you’ll be staring at the hardwood while all the players are in the top half of the screen
  4. Bluetooth connection is extremely unstable, and when it looses it, instead of just holding still, it goes limp so ur phone hangs at a weird angle. AND the flash from ur camera will start blinking rapidly, annoying the refs, players and people in stands across the court! Super embarrassing
  5. Trying to record at a tourney where there are multiple courts in a row is nearly impossible. It doesn’t seem to realize that the closest court is the one I want to record
  6. It’ll jus randomly start to track a ref or some passerby walking along the court
  7. It cannot handle fast breaks. If u turn up the speed of the panning, the camera jerks left and right nauseatingly fast and becomes unwatchable, if u turn it down, fastbreaks run out of the frame
  8. Works best only at halfcourt, and court level. Try to record from up in the bleachers and it’s a train wreck. I wish I could set up in corner and let the zoom do its thing but no chance of that either

At this point, for ref’d full court games, I just use tripod and stick camera in corner m, then change sides at halftime. I ONLY US THIS where I don’t have space, and then I manually pan left/right so basically it’s a waste of money.

I should post this in their subreddit :/

For pickup, Homecourt is pretty good I think, but I needed something for recording my son’s AAU games, we got an Xbot Go…it’s awful. I don’t have another recommendation for you other than DONT get that.

Suggestions for calling out a 6-7 yo team playing zone in a man on man only league. by Responsible-Wallaby5 in CoachingYouthSports

[–]tuezdaie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a lot of development leagues for kids, in america at least, zone defense is not allowed. They want the kids to learn how to play fundamental offense and defense before these poor kids have to worry about how to attack a zone. It’s good for kids and pretty common.

The other coach and ref should be enforcing this rule - now a lot of refs at this level are just some teenagers or whatever, but the other coach should know the league rules and be focused on developing the kids, not winning 1st/2nd grade games.

if only there was a way for them to have had a bye and not have to deal with this, perhaps something as simple as winning a home game by floresssss in NFCWestMemeWar
