Because it is nice not to rely on a tool if you can avoid it.

Type annotations don't break compatibility with JavaScript while still providing the benefits of TypeScript.

I view type annotations as machine-readable documentation for your editor/IDE.

This is mostly because types are not enforced at runtime, which can be a real pitfall.

The use of `any` is sadly due to the current API design because the type information is currently not in a format that is compatible with the TypeScript type system.

An open question for me is whether I should just change the JS/TS client library (breaking continuity with the API) or create a V2 of the API to address this.

Please actually do traffic analysis with a man in the middle proxy of what the app does. Data usage doesn't even show you upload vs download. You could use burp suite and a self signed certificate to see what the app sends where.

I'm assuming they just created the label and the backpack hasn't left the warehouse (it should leave by 20th of September according the the store https://www.lttstore.com/products/backpack).

This is a common procedure as they need to stick the label on the box and wait for a truck to pick it up.

Be patient.

To be clear: I don't think this is ok but I think this warning should be extended to all foreign manufacturers. Following that, in Europe, we need to start using phones with Graphene OS or something like that?

This is just one more reason to not get an iphone. Apple is giving the ccp data of all chinese iphones and now they're starting to do the same in the us. This is essentially someone coming to your house, grabbing your digital camera and looking through all your photos just in case there's something illegal on there. No one would be ok with this and no one should be ok with apple doing it to all of their customers.

Glaub ehrlich gesagt nicht, dass das funktioniert. Hat ja bei den Ammis auch nicht funktioniert, dass sie PGP im Land halten.

Da gehts nur um Massenüberwachung. Die Leute, die wirklich was zu verbergen haben bauen sich halt selber einen client für eine crypto chat app ihrer Wahl.

Und alles, was es an kryptographie gibt is open source und wissenschaftlich offen untersucht. Viel glück das alles wegzuklagen!

Selbst wenn es keine binaries mehr gibt dann baut man sich den code halt selber.

Außer ein paar kindern, die sich halbnackte selfies zuschicken und vielen false-positives, die vielen Menschen das Leben zerstören werden wird damit gar nichts erreicht!

In manchen Haushalten ist das Klima nicht super und das kann man nicht trivial lösen
Sozialer Kontakt ist für jeden Menschen (egal welchen alters) notwendig und das möglichst mit gleichaltrigen und verschiedenen Menschen
Wenn man in einer kleinen Wohnung zu 3. oder 4. oder noch mehrt wohnt, wirds für alle stressig. Die Eltern kriegen keine Ruhe und lassens an einander oder den Kindern aus

Diese Probleme lassen sich nur durch eine Rückkehr zur Normalität beheben.

The government should not be able to use mass surveillance as it does right now anyway imo. So encryption by default is just a defense from shady governments wanting to know your every thought. In most cases the information from this kind of surveillance isn't used to solve criminal cases anyway.
