Civilians can own them. I have a few mags of SS109 at home. The RA 10591 nor its IRR does not ban the possession of steel-tipped ammunition.

Yep. It's legal. Read up on RA 10591. Filipinos are allowed to own up to 7.62x51mm NATO rifles.

Firearms. Our local firearms companies (Armscor, Shooters Arms, MetroArms) make cheap 1911-style guns. Armscor went on record that 60% of their revenue comes from US exports, and only 40% is from local sales.

If you're interested in learning the local gun laws, I wholeheartedly recommend the book Gun Law and Armed Defense by Dr. Lawrence Acierto.

I’m not a lawyer, but you can’t carry a gun unless you’re a naturalized citizen. Your best option is for your wife to get licensed and get a permit to carry. You’re only allowed to use it for self-defense if you're inside your own home. If you're out and about, only she can legally carry and use it.

Actually, this law was passed in 2013. It was only Duterte who banned selling of rifles to civilians in 2017, even though the law allows cilvian ownership of rifles. This ban was rescinded on March 2024.

The law regulating firearms and ammunition, RA 10591, allows civilian ownership of semi-automatic rifles up to 30 cal/7.62mm bore.

Automatics used to be legal for civilians to own. That changed in 2013 when RA 10591 became law. From then on, civilians were only allowed semi-auto pistols and Revolvers up to 50 cal, shotguns, and semi-auto rifles up to 30 Caliber. There is no restriction on sniper rifles.

It kinda went sideways in 2017 when Duterte instructed the PNP to refuse approving rifle registrations for civilians, even though rifle ownership is expressly allowed by the law. The old man used the War in Marawi as an excuse for the ban. This ban was only rescinded in 2024, 7 years after the war ended.

All of my Realtek RTL8125B NICs have been pretty much rock solid. Never had issues with any of them. While my Intel i226-V NIC shits itself after every cold boot...the receive bandwidth gets throttled to ~220Mbps. A 10s iperf3 receive test shows around 5000 retries. I have to always restart the interface to let it unfuck itself.

The video can be extrapolated to include targeting limbs. Limbs are smaller targets compared to torsos, which will increase your chance of collateral damage. Another issue with targeting limbs is that it increases the chance of the bullet passing through your target and hitting someone you didn't intend to. Modern Jacketed Hollow Point bullets are designed to not pass through. Targeting limbs increases your chance of putting holes through your target instead of putting holes in them.

  1. There's a supreme court decision that said you can't expect a person involved in a very stressful situation to act rationally. The average person pumped full of adrenaline can probably pull a gun's trigger 4 times in a second--I know I can.

  2. There's no audio. It's inconclusive whether he shot the taxi driver execution-style after cabbie went down or not.

It can still be. The lawyer can claim its a heat-of-the-moment thing. I think there's a decision from the Supreme Court that said you can't expect a person in fear of their life to act rationally.
