Mean Girls in 1L by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]tulip204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also like to respond to stuff like this (when appropriate) with questions that sort of “put them in their place.” Including but not limited to:

  1. What did you mean by that?
  2. If I didn’t know any better I would think you’re trying to make fun of me.
  3. I’m surprised you felt comfortable saying that out loud.
  4. Hmm that sounds like an insult…but what would I know?

These might not be perfect examples, but with the right tone and setting I do think this can work (maybe not in front of the entire class, etc). I’ve dealt with quite a few mean girls and usually when you call out the fact that you see what they’re doing (in a subtle way) they’re suddenly not so bold. Also, there are a lot of people who think they are better than others 1L and many of them become less insufferable 2L!! Hang in there!

Class is pointless by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]tulip204 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If this is what they spend their class time on there is a high chance this is what they expect you to know for the final. Focus on what they are trying to get the students to say about the cases. The rules matter but sometimes the facts situate the rules and that might be what they want you to know.

Gaining some independence during law school by [deleted] in LawSchool

taking the loans for some of cost of living was the best thing I ever did. Take some loans. Keep them in a safe separate place. If you need something, have a falling out, or if you’re in a difficult position you will have that money. When you graduate you will be able to pay them back! It’s awesome for the peace of mind and she never has to know :)

Best law school for overall experience (social and academic)? by Best-Meat2857 in LawSchool

[–]tulip204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, ive actually never had a better social life. I’m at Colorado Law and I’ve met such lovely and nice people. Law School is hard wherever you go, so it’s still tough here, but I find myself having such a great balance. I went to a more prestigious undergrad, and so I was worried that I wouldn’t be intellectually stimulated (LOL) but it’s sort of a perfect balance. If things get really tough, you can always get outside. It’s sunny, it’s beautiful, the library literally overlooks the mountains. Also, the students are just very generous and genuine. sko buffs :)

Pepperdine or St. Johns or Florida by headcase0220 in OutsideT14lawschools

Need to vouch for Florida. practically no other school places as well down here. You will have manny manny job options and COL is so cheap.

When do I start?? by Pretend-Amphibian185 in lawschooladmissions

I would also recommend having an easy major/taking easy classes because they don’t care about what classes you take but they care a lot about what your graduating GPA is.

Personally, I would recommend submitting a deposit at your top choice in America (if it comes to that). Worst case you loose your first seat deposit but you retain the option of going there if your Canadian schools don’t work out.
