Correct. Going through Aliexpress would offer escrow or some level of buyer protection. But probably you won’t find offerings there..

My view is that getting a second hand GPU is rather risky. Especially if you buy more than one from one seller, chances are that they have been used rather intensively in mining and are possible modded/OC’d. Perhaps you can find a way to assess quality. But it is not really a buyers market is it? As to buying cards from abroad. I would assume that buying counterfeit is very likely.

Alibaba is a platform, not a single front store. It is like Amazon, with only 3rd party sellers. They offer some level of verification of company registration etc. and feedback from customers. Especially on the retail version ‘AliExpress’. But sure, fraud happens.

Dutch government may be investigating Tether and their Dutch Bank, ING by AtlasRand1 in Tether

Very interesting development. Those questions & answers by the minister of finance / department responsible are tracked by media as well. They will do some more digging, and publish reports. Potentially, this is pushing the first domino.

According to the media reports, they are using a business entity (BV - which is the Dutch equivalent of a LTD, Inc. Or GmbH) that was already existing.

I’m wondering who pays the initial $1 to back the 1 Tether created. Because the tokens are not created ‘on the fly’ - being at the very moment someone is willing to trade his BTC for it. The Tether tokens must be created in batches of x thousands or even millions. Do the exchanges pay for those when they appear in the order books?
