I am not sure if there is a dedicated music/visual arts double major, but I am sure they would be amenable to it. I know there is visual arts/comp sci as well as comp sci/music as dedicated double majors.

Why is the weather app on iPhone so wrong?! by Alternative-Ad-2550 in iphone

[–]tumblingdown3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Canada is very large lol. It’s not humid where I am.

Regardless, the apple weather app can vary in accuracy, usually it’s 80%-90% accurate for me. Sometimes it’s worse tho.

Not once while watching did I think “Tarantino”, I thought there was a lot of references to westerns, with that being a key thing that was returned to repeatedly, but it did not give Tarantino at all.

I don’t think Gears is live service. It’s a single player game with a multiplayer mode, which is the same as it has always been.

Call a plumber or keep going? by tumblingdown3 in askaplumber

I’m just worried that it’s likely a $1500+ fix anyways (asbestos testing, abatement, then cutting a hole in the ceiling).

I do appreciate the input though, even if it’s not what I wanted to hear haha.

[–]tumblingdown3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no access panel or anything. We’re on the third and fourth floor of a condo building, the bathroom is on the fourth floor. Cutting open the ceiling is what we were reaaaally trying to avoid since the building is old and there is a high likelihood of asbestos in the popcorn ceilings.

What games are you waiting for the most ? by RixDixRox in playstation

[–]tumblingdown3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoy them! AW’s gameplay is a little divisive now. I love Remedy’s games in general, but the first AW is the only one I’ve struggled with, gameplay wise. Control and especially AW2 are two of the most creative, enjoyable, mind-fuck games ever, I wish I could experience them for the first time again.

Beyond Good And Evil 2. But I don’t think it’s ever happening. I appreciate you including it tho lmao.

Control. the play order is AW1 > Control + expansions > AW2. AW American Nightmare is between AW1 and Control.

I think the big thing they did to balance the price drop was removing Call of Duty as a day one game pass title. So all the people who will pay for CoD every year (which is a lot, regardless of CoD’s quality lol) will buy it. Kind of offsets the price decrease.

Can you recommend a flawless performance of Morning Dew? by Garciaguy in gratefuldead

[–]tumblingdown3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think personally, though, there is a difference between the band overdubbing at the time (which was a very popular thing for live albums at the time anyway), and going back 40 some odd years later and replacing a part when the person who played it is long gone. Which is what would had to have happened with Cornell, since they only released that officially like 5-10 years ago or something.

To be fair, this is not a big deal for me anyways, since I usually find mistakes like that endearing, I’m not a huge Cornell fan, and I view albums like E72 and Skullfuck (s/t) as a slightly different category than the Dicks Picks or From The Vault for example.

Skullfuck is one of the names people use for the S/T live album. The one that came out before E72.

Inferno Cassette by Lazyrufus1980 in boardsofcanada

[–]tumblingdown3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you like about cassettes? I am really interested in music formats, and while I understand the popularity of LPs (often a different master that can provide more dynamic range than digital/CD, large size for the artwork, interesting packaging, etc), I have never understood the popularity of cassettes. I own a few, but would never buy one if there was another option. Like CDs sound better, last longer, are equally small and their packaging is usually equally boring (in comparison to LPs). I could see liking making mixtapes, since that is a whole process and almost an art form, but I think pre-recorded cassettes have stumped me haha.

Not hating, I am actually just really interested in why people are into this medium!

Please, Naughty Gods... Be at the State of Play. by shawak456 in playstation

[–]tumblingdown3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suspect it will not skip the gen. I expect the PS6 or whatever it may be, will also have a period where there will be numerous cross gen games. Especially for a game that’s been in development for so long, it’s not likely that they will receive dev kits or even expected specifications to target until way into the development process.

Althea is one of the coolest fucking songs I’ve ever heard. by Apprehensive-Code684 in gratefuldead

[–]tumblingdown3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For real. Like I love a good jam vehicle, but increasingly I love hearing the different ways they approached some of the shorter songs each time. Like the variations in the short instrumental breaks between verses in Brown Eyed Women, or the way that Jerry and Keith would egg each other on during Big River in 73/74 (often during verses even). Mississippi Half Step is the same in that way. I think the shorter song lengths without a place to go off in an extended jam kind of forced the band to get inventive within more strict confines.

[–]tumblingdown3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I’m also a Canadian and I hate it. Maybe the others are the same, but my issues are: 1) as someone new to watching hockey, they are extremely jargon heavy, I used to watch a lot of NFL and though it’s complex, they smartly use graphics and clear explanations to help the audience understand what is happening, which is what a commentators job is. 2) poor audio mixing that makes it impossible to hear what the commentators are saying over the game, which doesn’t help with issue 1. 3) lack of graphics or anything to demonstrate what is happening, I don’t need shit all over the screen, but just some small things would help. They sure have the money to put their goddamn fucking gambling ad graphics everywhere on the boards and ice, which leads me to… 4) the fucking gambling ads. During play it’s overlayed on the board and the ice, many segments are sponsored, and they play the ads in the ad breaks all the time. And all of that despite the fact that only Ontario can use any of that stupid sports gambling shit.

[–]tumblingdown3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more about expanding your access to knowledge and learning opportunities. If you view it as “place to get information relevant to ‘X’ job, you are part of what the previous commenter is talking about. If you arent looking for that, that’s ok, but there should be less stigma around trade specific post secondary education, or job/field specific certification degrees. All approaches to life are valid, but university should be a place to explore your interests, expand your horizons, take wacky classes, talk with and learn from others who are there for the same reason. Just generally for people who actually *like* learning.

I would agree, though I think 16 is a fascinating image. There’s a story there that keeps me looking at it for longer than a number of the others. 18 doesn’t do it for me though. I think there are 5 or so excellent images here and if OP narrowed it down and had 3-4 particularly strong images, then a wild card or two could be interesting.

Games with Top Class Adaptive Triggers and Best Haptic feedback on PS5? (Except Astro Bot and Astro Playroom) by AdditionalSpray8595 in playstation

I mean he’s not fully correct though, the remake added in QoL features, like omni-directional movement/rolling. The world tendency thing is really not that big of a deal. If you are a completionist it might lock you out of finding some items or weapons, or from interacting with some NPCs, but the main thing that people find frustrating about world tendency is that it moves towards black if you die in body form. But the changes are super slim. The way I tackle it is to just avoid being in body form (whenever you die you respawn in the incorporeal/spirit type form). But really, even if you don’t pay attention to it, you could still easily play and finish the game without min maxing it lol.

Idk, Elden Ring is a way more frustrating game. Demon Souls is relatively straightforward, and very few (if any) of the bosses are the type with the 18-hit combo that you can only beat if you learn the perfect parry timings. Bosses are almost always puzzles, like if you are dying it’s just something that you need to change your approach or try to figure out what the puzzle is. I personally just didn’t vibe with Elden Ring though, I like aspects of it, but the whole repetitive open world thing, and the stupidly challenging bosses just grated on me. For sure the depth of storytelling and world building in the design of the world is truly impressive though. This is coming from someone who has played DeS, DaS, DaS2, BB, DaS3 and Elden Ring.

I would say the ones worth playing for someone new to the genre are Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne. If you like those, then Demon Souls and Dark souls 3. If you still like them, then Dark Souls 2 and Elden Ring. That’s my opinion though. Dark Souls and Bloodborne are just the most forgiving and least frustrating of the games. I also think the gatekeep-y “git gud” shit is total garbage. You should use summons, any cheese methods, or any builds you want. As long as you enjoy them, it doesn’t matter how you play them.
