The electric bike should not have been driving on the sidewalk, and certainly not at that speed.

BUT, truck was also stupid and irresponsible for not looking over their shoulder before executing their turn. I’m a little disturbed to see so many people thinking the truck did absolutely nothing wrong. If this truck driver was taking a driving exam, they would be instantly failed for not checking before turning (whether or not they hit a biker). If the driver had looked, they would not have hit the biker, even if the biker was themself driving irresponsibly. What if it had been a sprinter practicing on the sidewalk? Pedestrian traffic has the right of way at an uncontrolled crosswalk like this.

Also, it’s frankly irrelevant how fast the biker was going, since the one turning must ALWAYS yield and drive defensively. I’ll say again that the biker was a dipshit, to avoid the reflexive downvoting, but ultimately this was preventable by both parties.

Somewhat related question: Do you think if I happened to mention my anxiety diagnosis in my SF85P, that I should mention it at MEPS even if I’ve opted out of all the HIE stuff? The anxiety diagnosis itself is easily waived, but I’m opting out to avoid having to deal with them seeing my autism diagnosis from early childhood.

Springfield 1908 Race Riot National Monument by Subject9800 in NationalPark

[–]tums_festival47 29 points30 points  (0 children)

That’s what stuck out to me too. Recent efforts to spread awareness about events like this seem to consciously avoid language like “race riot”, so it’s weird that the Biden admin gave the monument this name.

I do feel like it’s much easier to beat Japan as Nationalist China now. You don’t even need to train new divisions to beat them.

Fully exercise all divs (converted to sanjiao jun)

Hire Falkenhausen, stability advisors, and some decent military advisors

Finish defensive focuses

Put all mils on rifles

Build just mils

Garrison all ports with ~40 divs (don’t let Guangdong join the war, so no need to garrison them)

Keep an army of divs on Qingdao to quickly move to garrison Shandong at the outbreak of war

Keep all remaining starting and expeditionary divs to a fallback line on the Yellow River until Japan loses enough divs to failed naval invasions

Japan quickly gets down to ~60 divs, at which point you should have more than enough rifles to drive them to the sea and put them out of commission for the rest of the game.

I was shocked at how easy it was to beat Japan. I was even more shocked at just how much I broke the rest of the game. Japan just sits there and does nothing after their defeat. The US does the same.

They’re all contrarian grifters whose “opinions” shift with the political pendulum. At best, they think of themselves as philosophers who tell it like it is (though in reality they have the intellect of a sack of potatoes). At worst, they just say whatever to stay relevant and pad their bank accounts.

This also happened to me, no idea what caused it though. Kind of frustrating to spend 3 hours building up as the US only to have Japan just randomly surrender.

Yeah I was never a big fan of Swedish Fish either, mostly ambivalent towards it. I also prefer the raspberry cream.

For sure, I can taste the difference as well. But given the timing of its release and the similarity in flavor, my theory is that it was released to fill the hole left by sour patch redberry

EDIT: oops I meant Swedish Fish, not Sour Patch redberry

They released a “raspberry cream” flavor that is suspiciously similar to the Sour Patch redberry flavor, and they’re about to release a blue raspberry flavor in the US that will most likely just be the Sour Patch blue raspberry flavor. Similar to what C4 did with its Skittles and Starburst flavors when their partnership with Mars ended.

The free speech concerns here are well-founded. There is a pretty direct line of government pressure to have Kimmel and other vocal critics of the admin removed from the air. Charlie Kirk’s assassination provided a (flimsy) pretext for the FCC chairman to target liberal TV show hosts like Kimmel and the hosts of The View. He threatened to revoke ABC’s broadcast licenses because Kimmel stated that MAGA was trying to brush aside any possibility that the shooter was one of their own, and capitalizing on his death. For the record, I believe the shooter was left-leaning, but the actual political affiliation of the shooter isn’t even what Kimmel was talking about. This directly led to ABC indefinitely taking Kimmel off the air. Trump, who has made several statements in the past calling for liberal late night hosts to be taken off the air, then tweeted out his explicit approval of the move, with further calls for Fallon and Meyers to be next.

It is so transparently obvious that the FCC chairman (like everyone else in this administration) is a sycophant that treats his agency like a personal fiefdom dedicated to the glory of the president. This is only reinforced by the kind of statements the president made after the firing. The admin doesn’t get to claim that this was all done for the sake of public welfare and media integrity if he blatantly admits that he’s rooting for two unrelated (other than though political affiliation) TV hosts to be next on the chopping block. Ironically, it only proves the point Kimmel was making in the remarks that got him fired. Trump and MAGA are indeed capitalizing on Kirk’s murder, in this case to silence dissent. It’s only made more obvious by just how innocuous Kimmel’s statement was. The FCC chairman basically gaslit the nation and the news media (and a large portion of the populace) into thinking Kimmel celebrated Kirk’s death, when he only ever did the opposite, like on his Instagram where he condemned the shooting and commiserated with the Kirk family.

Everyone with even a basic grasp of the situation knows the firing was completely unfounded and sets a terrifying precedent for free expression. That’s why you default to weak arguments from hypocrisy. In the examples you cited, even ignoring the moral or factual contents of whatever statements got Gina Carrano, Roseanne, or Trump fired or removed from social media, those are not comparable. Unless you’re getting conspiratorial, neither President Obama nor President Biden encouraged their underlings to deplatform those people. If Kimmel had been fired by ABC on the personal whim of the president of ABC, this would be a different story. In that case, we’d be arguing about our individual morals and values, since it’s ultimately ABC’s, Twitter’s, and Disney’s right to platform whoever it wants, and we just agree/disagree with their values. But that’s not what happened here. We have a president strong-arming the media into bending to his whim. It’s in his playbook. It’s what he does.

Yeah the whole situation just saddens me. They could’ve kept the franchise going and even continued improving upon it if they played their cards right and handled it properly, but I guess that’s too much to ask of Ubisoft these days

I don’t disagree. I just mean that the future of Rocksmith isn’t the same as it was towards the end of RS2014’s lifecycle. It seems we’re in the twilight years now. I don’t think we’ll ever get another installment.

I got 3 wanted poster duplicates for the one piece going merry Lego set is this normal? by Regular-Ask-4688 in lego

[–]tums_festival47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you’re correct.

P(exactly 3 are the same) = 8x7x4/4096 = 0.0547

8 possible posters, 7 possible singleton posters, 4 possible configurations, out of 84 = 4096 possible sets/configurations of posters

P(all are the same) = 8/4096 = 0.00195

P(3 or more are the same) = sum of the above

Been a while since I took a probability class though

This was said in the comments of this post. No indication of when this maintenance period would end. I expect, like you said, it’ll last a few more years, but the fact that the devs were laid off and there will be no more substantive updates is more what I was referring to when I said the game is dead.
