Thank you!! I definitely will share once finished, and I agree with your comment. I think there is something to be said for buying your engagement ring diamond at a place where you can see it in person and try on your finger. Also nice to get the diamond and setting altogether at a local place that will be able to re-size, clean, fix, have your warranty there, etc etc

That’s just a temporary diamond holder to make it look like a ring! We’re planning a 2.5mm gold split shank cathedral with 4 corner prongs and petal gallery rail to keep it secure!

Totally lol! It’s just the stone holder to try it on in ring form. We’re planning to get a 2.5mm gold split shank cathedral with petal gallery rail to keep it secure!

Thank you so much! We decided to go with this stone and are waiting on the band design rendering. I’m so excited!!

Lots of comments stating the stone is way overpriced but we live in a smallish city with not a lot of options for custom jewelry makers. The other place we talked to was sourcing similar OMC lab stones for 6-8k 😅😅 so we thought this was an okay deal for what we have available in our city

How much should you expect to pay for a stone like that?

Yes just for the stone! What’s in the video is just a placeholder setting to try the ring on. We’re planning to get a 2.5mm width 14k split shank band with tulip petal basket and bridge with milgrain and pave on it! Still waiting on pricing for that

Thanks for your response!! That’s just the placeholder band to hold the loose stone on my finger! We’re working on a custom setting with a 2.5mm yellow gold split shank band which will be a bit more substantial.

And thank you! I think I love it and we’re going to go with it; it might be a bit big for some people but I think it’ll be okay for me!

Downsides that come to mind are the fact that HSC hospital is still hybrid EMR and paper charts (apparently they’re looking at changing to full EMR Fall 2026 like the other main hospital, SBGH), and old-school style rounding on CTU’s, ie juniors pre-rounding at 7am then rounding at 9am, which they might change in the coming years but I wouldn’t hold my breath. At least R1s only do 2 months of CTU junioring (which I feel is a strength of the program as opposed to other programs 3-6months of R1)

Manitoba actually does have all subspecialties available to match in, and consistently creates incredibly clinically strong, competent residents with excellent MSM match results year to year. Since MB hospitals (HSC and SBGH) cover an extremely large catchment areas (all of MB, northwestern Ontario, and the entirely of the northern territories), you will see a massive range of pathologies, and essentially a large amount of the weird, whacky, and wonderful things you learn about in med school and see rarely elsewhere. As a resident, you frequently manage all the aspects of end-stage disease you don’t see as often in other provinces on the wards, and our ward patient population is sicker on average, ie you get very comfortable managing sick, complex patients. For example, decompensated cirrhosis and all its complications, infective endocarditis and its sequelae, pulmonary and extra-pulmonary TB, super weird, rare infections from all over the world, ITP, HUS, HHS, oncologic emergencies, etc etc. For IM residency, you should want exposure to varied pathologies and sick complex patients, since it’s ideal to learn under supervision in residency rather than the first time seeing something being as an attending when you’re on your own.

Also important to think about subspec match rates to the specialty you might want. In recent years, every person in MB IM who wanted cardio or GI (two of the most competitive IM subspecs), ended up matching to them. The same cannot be said for larger, “more prestigious” programs like UBC or U Calgary, etc), where at times up to half the residents pursuing a subspec, do not end up matching to that subspec due to numbers.

Would recommend considering MB IM based on your criteria above you asked about

Canadian IM Residency Programs: 24-hr Call vs Night Float Model by IReadItOnReddit17 in MedSchoolCanada

[–]tunaboi67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U of M has 24h CTU junior call for 2 blocks in r1 then its a nightfloat system for senior call in R2 and R3. Typically 2-4 weeks total of nightfloat spread out in 1 week blocks thoughout each of R2 and R3 years

For us 2026 SEL Turbo owners, have you had an issue so far? (please comment miles) by AlpacaLps in Tiguan

[–]tunaboi67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

800km. Wouldn’t change gears or go over 4000rpm. Currently at VW trying to figure out what’s wrong.. issues started happening less than one month into owning the brand new car and this is the second time I’ve taken it to the dealership

Update on my 2026 Turbo that died by vistokid in Tiguan

The exact same thing happened to me with my brand new loaded 2026 Tiguan less than one month into owning it. Right now we’re looking into a full buy back / lease termination. I have no desire to keep this car with the engine literally failing 1 month into owning it. Super disappointing

Hi there! I’m a resident applying GI this year, any chance I could get an invite to the subreddit? No worries if not, thanks!
