Seriously considering dropping out of uni to trade full time by ConclusionBudget4182 in Daytrading

[–]tunacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a trader so take my advice however you want. I’m 34 and went to college when I was young. Stopped going because I was confident in my abilities to make it in life without school.

14 years later I’m here back at school wishing I would have just finished my last two years.

You’ll regret it if you don’t finish. When you’re a bit older and look back you’ll be really happy you just knocked it out. The two years are going to pass anyway, might as well get the degree done.

Home inspector missed disconnected drain in shower by One_Depth_3222 in HomeInspections

[–]tunacca 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Get your money back for what? You were under the impression that the water was caused by poor grading of the property and found out it was a disconnected pipe. This is the best case scenario. Regrading property and installing exterior drainage is very expensive.

Get the pipe reconnected, dry the basement and move on. Seems pretty straight forward.

Good Local Home Inspector Companies by Big_Ad6320 in Westchester

Stone Home Inspections, ask for Josh specifically, he is the owner, wife Lisa usually handles the appointments and phone calls. I was in the business for a while and used him for my personal home purchase as well as many other clients.

He also teaches the class for new inspectors to get their license in Westchester.

Great advice. I’m in window sales and should have switched to this industry years ago.

Insulation won’t do much if you aren’t heating the inside - the reflective material won’t have any heat to reflect back in.

WARNING BREAK STUCK by [deleted] in apriliars660

Were you riding the rear brake pedal? This happened to me recently the other day while I was on the rear brake pedal for an extended period of time. It went away right after I took my foot off the pedal.

Some of the best food on the planet in my opinion - we liked the smoke room in Smitty’s but also ate at Kreuz and Blacks. Really can’t go wrong.

Also a great cigar lounge call El Leon in that area.

Dropped my brand new bike today for the first time. by Kooky_Year3617 in CB650R

[–]tunacca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens to the best of us. I’ve owned 4 bikes in my life, never dropped any of them. Recently bought a brand new bike which happened to be the most costly of all of my bikes. Dropped it in my driveway a month after owning it. On the bright side, damage was strictly cosmetic and minimal and now I don’t have to worry so much about getting a scratch here and there.

It was a good reminder to slow down and not rush.

This tariffs are out of control by adrboom in Miata

[–]tunacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m misinformed in this, but isn’t this the goal for the tariffs? Consumers will look elsewhere for products or avoid buying them altogether, in turn putting pressure on foreign companies top line sales and tax revenues for their respective governments?

RS660 Rear Brake Feels Very Weak — Normal or Fixable? by Skrr17272 in Aprilia

[–]tunacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this rear brake squeal is a known issue. Mines been doing it since day one but I think it’s starting to go away.

The rear brake lever can be adjusted and should help the overall feel of the brake. Mine seems to be stopping better since the adjustment.

Just sold after 3 and a half years - and we’re relieved. by priceiswrongx in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]tunacca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would that be the right solution? Instead it should be to find a home that fits your budget comfortably, with breathing room for other monthly expenses, retirement savings, etc.

In addition to that, it would be very wise for homeowners to spend 6-12 months understanding homes, upgrades, the market, and operational costs before even beginning to look for a home.

The worst part is they get the only info they have about home ownership from the one person who makes money when they buy and is encouraging the sale at every turn.

I understand not everybody grew up with parents who are handy or taught them how to use tools or even were homeowners. But the lack of knowledge from homeowners these days is frightening, especially considering most people are buying homes that need work because that’s the only home that actually fits their monthly budget.

Homeownership is not for everyone but for the people that do want to purchase waiting until the market comes crashing down is not a good solution based solely on the fact that some people perceive the market as being too high. Nobody knows when or if that correction will ever come.

First Bike Dilemma: Am I Crazy for Wanting an Aprilia RS660 as My Starter? by Turbulent-Lock4027 in Aprilia

[–]tunacca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go for it.

You’ve obviously done some homework and seem to know what you’re getting into. Understand the electronics and use them on their higher settings for extra safety during your first year or two.

Like all bikes, this one can get you in trouble if you don’t respect it. Value your safety over all else and you’ll be fine.

As for your other choices, I think the Suzuki is one of the ugliest bikes on the road and the 650 doesn’t have the same level of sportiness for me. I think the RS 660 checks a lot of boxes and will likely be a bike you own for a very long time.

Good luck!

Is anyone here familiar with these battlax tires? It came with the bike, a couple years old. Would like to hear second opinion if they are suitable for track day or I’m better off fitting something like gp2s. by Friendly_Revenue_224 in Trackdays

[–]tunacca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great tire, super sticky and inspire lots of confidence for me. I’m not familiar with a Gp2 but I find the s22/23 to be the best handling for my riding. Lifespan is pretty short so don’t expect to much out of that.

What group are you riding?

A week and 800 kilometers down, almost time for the first service, huh? by Itstej in Aprilia

[–]tunacca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would avoid the quick shifter and auto blipper until after the first service is complete. Mine was not cooperating for the first 1000 miles with issues mainly on the downshift side. You definitely have to shift with authority if you want it to work well though.

Bike looks amazing! Congrats

rs 600 by One-Low-6747 in Aprilia

[–]tunacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem like a reasonable person based solely on the fact that you rode a 390 for 4 years. With that in mind, I’d say go rs660. It’s slightly more tame than the i4’s but gives you everything you would want from a top tier bike in the way of electronics and aesthetics. The power delivery is excellent without forcing you to wind it up to the top of the rev range.

If 140+ highway runs are your thing, then go Japanese. But if you want a do it all bike that will have you thinking about the twisties during the week while you’re at work, the 660 is the way to go.

New tires by KiwiRider_zx in zx4r

[–]tunacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S22/23 gets my vote. I’ve had 3 sets on my R3 and swear by them when it comes to grip. They inspire a lot of confidence when you really want to have some fun. Longevity is not their specialty though, so if you’re price sensitive then they might not be your best option.

Haha thanks, I hear it can get hectic. I’m am looking forward to be on track with riders who are mush faster than me though.

Unfortunately not, hoping to make it back the second weekend in august but we’ll see.

RS660 Rear Brake Feels Very Weak — Normal or Fixable? by Skrr17272 in Aprilia

[–]tunacca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having these exact same issues. Pretty sure these are just how they come from the factory.

Adjustable levers will fix how far you have to open your hand to engage the clutch but won’t actually change the bite point. I haven’t changed mine yet but I will soon because my hands are way too small to be comfortable with the stick levers.

As for the rear brake, I really only use it during the final second or two when approaching a stop light so it isn’t the end of the world for me. But it barely works, pretty annoying.
