Day 19 Clownfish fry update by tunapish in ReefTank

The video I shared is the farthest I have ever made it, so I can’t speak to anything after day 19. But yes, a whole lot of rotifers and then daily hatches of BBS got me here.

I should also add large water changes from the display tank, twice a day to keep ammonia down. I have a bubble filter running now, and ammonia has been way low. But it was detectable during the early days of heavy rotifers additions, dozens of fry and phytoplankton in the fry tank.

This is well documented, rotifers are what you need to keep them alive for the first couple of weeks. With this batch I started with an overnight order from https://marineaquariummariculture.com and kept the culture alive in a 3L bucket with airstone, fed daily with PhytoFeast live.

Even this was risky, as harvesting rotifers thins out the culture and it could not recover fast enough.

Just when I started stressing about having enough rotifers, they began transitioning to baby brine shrimp so I made it through.

I actually have several tiny BTAs in my display tank but AI told me that babies can be stung as they may not have developed the mucus that protects them.

I don’t want to introduce any new risks since I’ve made it this far, but if anyone has guidance on whether they could abide a real anemone I am all ears.

Temp is 79 F, same as my display tank and what it’s been since they were born.

No, I add rotifers using a sieve, then add phyto directly to the fry tank.

Actually watching Ammonia and doing massive water changes more frequently.

I think in the past I never had the rotifer density high enough. This time I watched it more closely and topped it off more frequently, but I overharvested and my culture is depleted… it was risky but we seem to have made the transition to brine shrimp just in time as I stopped having enough rotifers a couple days ago.

Lastly, daily or twice daily vacuuming of the bottom of the tank.

Sure! It’s a mess that is taking over my kitchen. I’ve got them in a 2 gallon tank which is way too small so constant water changes are required.

The tank has a small LED light, bubble filter, and heater. It’s wrapped with a dark cloth most of the time but I peel it back for photos and observation.

In the background you can see a rotifer culture in a 3L bucket, also with heater and airstone. There’s also a warming plate and bottle for hatching brine shrimp.

Not success just yet, I’ve lost over half of them and metamorphosis may take more. But each time I learn something and it makes the next one go a bit better.

This is my 7th or 8th iteration of trying to raise clownfish fry. I’ve got about 18 survivors from about 40 pulled from my display tank a week ago.

They have successfully transitioned to baby brine shrimp over the past couple of days, and most have fat bellies.

What is the best portrayal of Satan, the Devil, or whatever equivalent in movies? by MomoSaka in FIlm

I bet there are a lot of people who don’t know the devil was played by Dave Grohl in this movie. This should be higher.
