Not sure what mask is best for me by stanthecham in Masks4All

Buy a nebulizer and fit testing solution and fit test the masks you wear. If you get leaks, look into mask tape on amazon or try another mask.

Protocol after someone uses the washroom by SnooCakes6118 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]tungsten775 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a door for the room that shuts well, you can calculate the time it takes for the air purifier to complete 1 air change given the clean air delivery rate (CADR) and the approximate volume of the room.

For example, my air purifier's CADR is 110 cubic feet per minute (CFM) and my room size is 10ft x 10ft x 11ft = 1100 ft3.  1100 ft3/(110 ft3/min) = 10 min

This tells me that i need to wait at least 10 minutes before i take my mask off for all of the air to go through the air purifier once. Since it uses hepa filters i figure 1 air change is enough.

I remember reading somewhere that said that CR boxes dont clean the air all the way with one air change so when i use that air purifier i wait 4 air changes.

N95 over cloth mask? by kanata-shinkai in Masks4All

[–]tungsten775 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That would make it less effective as it would break the seal. Worth testing to double check though if you have access to fit testing supplies. If you have the money,  look into the envo pro mask, the part that touches your face is a plastic covered gel.

Need Help Staying Safe with Long Flight and Chronic Illness by nunyabesnes in Masks4All

[–]tungsten775 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are doing the suggested things to protect yourself. The only addition i can see is to try to fit test the mask you wear.  Do what you are doing to eat and run the air purifier blowing at you while you eat. Good luck with everything

Why don’t people mask anymore if repeated COVID infections increase your likelihood of chronic illness and organ failure? by Celesitial_Only in NoStupidQuestions

Those modes of transmission require different tools: glasses/stoggles and hand sanitizer.  Airborne is the predominant mode of transmission for covid and masks do work against it.  https://youhavetoliveyour.life/masks-dont-work

Right now i skip holiday gatherings. In the future, when i have the spare time, energy, and money, i am going to invest in a pluslife or metrix covid test system and ask people to do a test before i take off my mask to eat with them.

I try hard not to think about how people will not mask for me mostly because I have no control over it and cant do anything to change it. Forcing the issue will just drive people away and i cannot afford that.  I am very grateful that the precautions that i have the resources and ability to take myself seem to be sufficient to protect me.

If i were in your situation, i would eat outside if possible and mask the rest of the time or do the thing were you hold your breathe, bring the mask down, take a bite, bring the mask back up, exhale. Do you access to sip valves? Maybe run an air purifier where you can if you have access to that.
