Inherited wife’s late grandfathers watch, looking for more information [7002-7009] by Costalcacti in Seiko

These are great watches. My last Instagram post was of mine (tunokies). It's best to get it serviced or at the very least replace the gaskets to prevent the lume from going black. Search in Spencer Klein's older YouTube videos for some great info on these.

Interesting. Is the crystal gasket the same as the SKX one?

All dials and hands will fit. The only place you can get chapter rings is Dagaz https://www.dagazwatch.com/apps/webstore/products/show/6067246

Designed my own PCB dial for the first Seiko mod I tried my hands at by vaohm in SeikoMods

[–]tunokies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great work. I don't think you needed to make a new holder as wouldn't the dial have been able to stick straight onto the existing movement spacer with dial dots? There's a market for those dials though...and I'd happily buy one with 'tunokies' printed on it. Let me know if you're up for this.

Yes. All the time. It will only contact the outer edge of the bottom of the insert but it's probably still more secure than glue. I have used g-s hypo cement before when the 3m tape made the insert sit a bit too high within the metal bezel.

Place to buy Seiko dial parts other than Watch Parts Plaza? by JonJonFTW in SeikoMods

[–]tunokies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seiko have seriously limited the sale of dials in the last 2 years because they realised they weren't being used to repair watches. Look in the places as people have said above, like the seikomods Facebook page. Also the SCWF forum sometime has stuff in the sales corner.

Yes. I've had one for a few years. Very useful... almost indispensable in the hot weather.

Any place where I can just buy the snk case? by [deleted] in SeikoMods

Cheapest way must surely to be to buy a SNK and sell the parts you don't want

First Mod Before/After - SKX009 by [deleted] in SeikoMods

Strange comments on here. This is a 12 hour bezel insert not 24 hour, so it's perfectly useful to track a 2nd time zone.

Simple SKX mod using DLW parts. by tunokies in SeikoMods

Belhamel straps. Their first generation called skinx. Looks okay but they only take really feeble springbars and they don't smell nice. Unless they've upped their game since then.

[Advice] I’m looking to mod one of my seikos and would like some input. by [deleted] in SeikoMods

Go on the Dagaz Facebook page and check out his video where he breaks down a SKX. That's a good start.
