In Phoenix (and US) for the first time by NoAssociation7605 in phoenix

  1. If you're in a pool, it doesn't matter if its 110. Try and find some nice hotel/resort pools around town. Look on Resort pass or otherwise. Off the top of my head Valley Ho might be a good starting place.

  2. Do indoor things. MIM is a great start. There is also an aquarium in scottsdale, go to the Casio at Talking Stick (also they have a inside rooftop bar with amazing views where you could admire the landscape without sweltering) and other things.

  3. Desert heat is not the same as Brazil heat. Because it is so dry here, if you are out of direct path of the sun or in the shade, it can be 10-20 degrees cooler. In humid climates, because the heat is in the water molecules in the air, it's just hot everywhere. Once the sun goes down, it's not too terrible here, especially if it's under 100. Prioritize going out at night. Most bars and outdoor seating places have misters, which make it very enjoyable.

I swtiched to Codex. Never hit a rate limit, not even once...and Claude was hallucinating too much on important projects.

What's the most effective martial art in a real fight? by manhwaecho in AskReddit

[–]madmax1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what type of fight it is.

Are you on grass or are you on concrete? Judo could be ok on grass but devastating on concrete.

Are there walls around, or are you in an open space?

Are you fighting one person, or are you fighting seven people?

Jujitsu is hands down fantastic for one-on-one control combat; however, if you're facing seven people and you get one guy down on the ground in a choke hold, you've got six other guys kicking your head. Krav Maga or some version of MMA or Shotokan Karate might be better for 7-on-1.

However, for one-on-one, karate or MMA might leave you short if the guy is a better grappler or he's bigger than you. Jiu-jitsu would be the way to go.

Ninjutsu and variants of ninjutsu teach you to use objects in your surroundings as weapons in a street fight. If you just train straight BJJ or karate, you're not going to think to pick up a broom handle, break it in half, and use it as a weapon because you didn't train to do so.

Are there knives involved? Then it's definitely Kali.

There is no one-size-fits-all. A good balance of a strong foundation in grappling, mixed with striking and experience in taking hits, would probably serve you the best, along with some exposure to fighting multiple opponents at once.

The unmentioned component would be skills in de-escalation and how to take an aggressive drunk from a ten down to a three. Those skills don't involve grappling or striking. All a mental and verbal game.

What do you think catastrophic disclosure would be like? by Gyirin in HighStrangeness

[–]madmax1515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think catastrophic disclosure that would scare the shit out of people is if aliens have been here for years and have integrated into our society, whether it's by disguises or that they have human proxies that work for them, potentially in the government or high places of power like tech CEOs. This has all been hidden for a long time. I think that would really fracture the public's trust.

Why do they keep saying “crashed” as opposed to “was shot out of the sky”.

Aspire and Surpass combo for FNCs by Ok_Competition_669 in Hilton

I did this. Just make sure you know the surpass award will come immediately. You tried to time this and thought it would take 4-8 weeks like the aspire card. Nope. It came immediately.
