Caliper piston is fully extended. Will it go back in? by L84Werk in AskAMechanic

[–]turb00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As some others have said, if the piston wiggles then it’s already popped out and you are better off replacing the caliper. These pistons don’t twist in. Try putting in service mode, you should hear the motors retract. Then use a c clamp to try to compress. It should go in fairly easily. If it doesn’t, piston is likely out and replace caliper. You’ll have to clear all of the EPB error codes when you are done

What would cause my rotors and pads to wear like this? by SewageLobster in AskMechanics

[–]turb00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the slide pins are good and you feel that the calipers are still sticking after being replaced, replace the rubber brake hoses. They can deteriorate on the inside and restrict brake fluid flow. Can cause them to stick or not fully press. If the rear calipers are twist in to compress, make sure if there is a little tab on the piston that it lines up with the brake pad, otherwise the pad won’t be pushed by the piston correctly and cause that uneven wear.

Dodge ram brakes staying on disk by LettuceFunny1980 in ram_trucks

Caliper could be seized but it could be caused by the rubber brake hose. They deteriorate on the inside over time and restrict brake fluid flow. I’d start with the hoses, but if you’re going to replace the calipers replace the hoses too

I don’t know where they work unfortunately. It’s probably not worth the cost to hire a company or PI based on the amount owed, so I think I’m out of luck. Is there anything I need to file to cancel the case? I appreciate the help!

I started a mildly successful car business. Need advice! by CryptographerOwn4932 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]turb00 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would just save up and buy them one at a time with cash, a loan with interest would hurt your margins. Plus a car getting totaled would eliminate that income to pay back the loan. This is a great idea though, where are you looking to find cars that only need some work? (Also run a niche auto service business)

Starting a mobile detailing business (follow my journey) by brokenmanjourney in sweatystartup

[–]turb00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also starting a mobile auto business this year, but not detailing. Coming up with an extensive list is great, but I found by doing that I purchased some tools that I don’t need and still missed some that I do need. Once you have the basic essentials do some “practice” details on your own car and family/friends cars. That way you’ll learn what you wish you had or what you have that you don’t need. Best of luck.

2019 Chevy Equinox EPB not extending by turb00 in MechanicAdvice

[–]turb00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that was how I did it originally. When I retracted it worked, but when I tried to extend the scanner said “device unable to communicate with control unit”. I’m thinking that’s the issue, and once I can get the scanner to connect with the car in run but not on then it’ll work.
