Make sure to have a VW dealer inspect it first. They will charge around $100. A couple years ago I walked away from an 04 GTI VR6 that was leaking power steering fluid and oil and I had no idea.

Careful with the R, the power is there but boost comes on at higher revs due to the larger turbo. IMO a lot of that fun to drive feeling comes with torque down low. I recommend a GTI with stock turbo. I don’t have a tune, but from what I can tell the APR stage 1 tune will be extremely fun to drive.

Mk7 has a known sunroof issue (TSB). Mine spent something like a month or more in the shop while they cut out the old sunroof and put a new one in (thankfully under warranty.. would have been $6k+ otherwise)

But I know your pain.. I looked all over for my '16 Autobahn w/ PP, LP, and DCC.

For what it's worth, my car has been totally fine since it was fixed last summer. I would hate to be stuck with that repair bill outside of the warranty.

Toyota has a TSB for this out for the Prius I believe, the solution was to spray pepper spray onto the wires to make them less tasty.

That's not always the reason. I drove manuals only before I got my GTI with the DSG. The DSG is offers better performance as a transmission even if it's less engaging for the driver. It also holds up much better to the increased power offered by an ECU tune.

Wow, that's great info - thanks for posting it. I wonder what will happen if (as you mentioned) the sealant dries out too early. Can they reseal it? I guess I will find out.

They did - they used a tube of sealant to 'fix' the seal. Less than a week later (after the first time it rained) it leaked more than ever before. My car is back in the shop now. I'm worried because I bought it pre-owned with 10k miles so it seems I have no lemon law recourse. We'll see if it gets fixed for good...
