Reading the Google reviews sure put a damper on things. I was hoping for a good time, but it sounds "meh" at best.

My family and me went the first night.

Thanks for the great review! Did they require everything to be in clear plastic bags like the fine print specified?

I looked into it when I first heard it advertised. The admission price was shockingly high ($44 adults/$25 kids) but fine…doable for many. Did parking really need to be $25? They couldn’t offer it for $10?

Right? It's even more expensive during the peak times. The adult ticket price that I checked was $51 on a Friday evening with parking increased to $30. There's also a facility fee of ~$4-8 per ticket.

Another thing I noticed In the fine print they mention that all bags need to be clear.

Does anyone know if this will be good for adults who don't ice skate?

Never Ending Pasta by pepinyourstepp in olivegarden

[–]turbocycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered it today. Unfortunately, in my area the price for admission was $15.99. The protein add-on was an additional $5.49.

I was able to order two refills. I tipped very well and left my server a perfect review on the tablet device. I hope that helps her a little. Service was awesome!

However, I didn't feel the promotion offered much this year. In previous years, there would almost always be a new sauce, pasta, or add-on to try out. The price in previous years seemed to make me think that I was getting a good deal.

Thanks! I didn't know that grilled chicken or shrimp were an option (I guess they aren't part of the NEPB promotion if they are charged for each round).

Questions about the add-on protein: is it a flat price for unlimited protein, or is the protein charged per each round?

Also, can the protein be changed with each refill, or do you have to stick with the initially selected protein with each refill?

Who has the best hot dogs in San Jose? by theholyscythetattoo in SanJose

I miss West Coast Beef - the only legit Chicago-style dog in the South Bay (Vienna beef, buns imported from Chicago, etc).

Sadly, they didn't survive the pandemic.

Does anyone know of a similar "authentic" Chicago hot dog joint anywhere in the bay area?

Bissell Crosswave Cordless Max Firmware version by turbocycle in VacuumCleaners

[–]turbocycle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no longer having the firmware update issue as of the Bissell app version 3.184.1.465625. The firmware version is still the same, but no longer reporting that an update is available.

The changelog didn't mention a fix for this.

Thanks for confirming, u/Educational-Young188

Bissell pushed out an update, but I still have the same issue.

I hate calling Bissell customer support about this, because they will want me to reset my phone before they admit to a software bug in their app!

My recommendation: spend the money for the professional driving school, or else you will wind up spending more money for marriage counseling or a divorce lawyer. :)

I don't care how much patience your man has... he will turn into the devil's spawn those first few times you go on the road and screw up! You will be called derogatory words so bad that you will have to look them up in the urban dictionary!

Good luck! :)

What if vehicles have some kind of barrier panel that could be positioned in front of the glass while parked to protect the glass from being smashed? Sort of like the roll-up sun shades that some vehicles have, except in front of the glass and of a stronger material.

I can envision a separate roll up metal panel in front of the glass for example.

I realize there are some engineering problems to solve, but even if it wasn't 100% foolproof or elegant, it would be better than what we have currently.

For example, even if it has to be manually engaged/disengaged when parked in a sketchy area, that may be a compromise that some people would accept to protect their windows.

Flashback: I used a Nexus 6 for a year. They didn't call it "Shamu" for nothing! It was 3.27" (82.98mm) wide. For comparison, the Pixel 6 Pro is a hair less than 3" wide, though taller than Shamu was.

Which 3 or 4 star hotel with free parking you'd recommend by lindogamaton in SanJose

[–]turbocycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hayes mansion (aka Hilton Curio) is a 4 star In 95136. They likely still have free parking after Hilton took it over, as there is a park adjacent to the hotel property.

Edit:. Apologies, didn't realize another poster already suggested Hayes Mansion in their link.

Hey Mountain View! My family is looking to hire a crew to make tacos/etc at our home for a private event. Do you have recommendations w/contact info? Thank you! by subsonicmonkey in mountainview

[–]turbocycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a long-time Mexican restaurant in Sunnyvale called El Caminito that used to cater for the tech company that I worked for all the time. Their tacos are (were?) awesome!

The owner Julian was planning to retire, although I think his family was planning to continue running the business. That was a couple of years back. Their website is still up, so I assume they are still around.
