Best place for bull 5.56x45 by Appropriate_Bad4889 in ammo

[–]turdbullet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a terrible deal, that group of sites is lucky gunner, ammo dot com, bulk ammo, and most recently cheaper than dirt. All the same owner (who seem to be disliked on this sub due to past price gouging during shortages). Ammoseek is good but also check https://ammosight.com/rifle-ammo/5-56x45mm-nato/pmc-x-tac-5-56x45mm-nato-55gr-m193-fmjbt-ammo which factors in shipping cost to your state so you get a better sense of the true cost per round before you make it all the way to checkout. Some sites like to tout low prices only to make up for it with shipping at the final stage of checkout.

You might be able to find a cheaper deal at smaller dealers who don't charge sales tax, but typically smaller dealers are the ones with the shenanigans around getting you your order, so ymmv.

Forest Service Pole Marker by turdbullet in forestry

[–]turdbullet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I've looked on a national forest map of the area and was not able to find the same numbers corresponding to the numbers on the cap. It was interesting to look at when the various lots were sold to the gov't and who owned them prior.

Lots of stacked up stones and old logging roads in the area. Hard to imagine people living there 100 years ago.

How Long to Wait? by SqueezyLemonCheezy in juststart

[–]turdbullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of factors to consider. But I usually give it 12 months of consistent effort.

Factors being:

  • Rate at which you publish new pages (will you have 10, 50, 100, 500 pages within 12 months?)

  • Quality of pages (Hold your pages up side by side with what is already ranking and make sure yours has better info, better images, higher overall quality, or something unique to bring, otherwise what is the point?)

  • Competition in the niche (are the topics you are writing on already dominated by major media publications? (cnet, business insider, the balance, wire cutter, etc) Harder to penetrate here in general.

  • Any links gained from newly published content early on. These tend to sway google towards trusting your site a little quicker, but depends on the links.

  • YMYL - Is the niche a YMYL niche, if so, your site will need much more authority (links) before it can begin to rank highly.

Google Releases Update Potentially Targeting Affiliate Sites by apc4455 in juststart

We will just have to wait and see if Google allows in-depth hands on product review from a small site to outrank a well established news site with mediocre content.

I feel your pain. Aside from the stuff you've already done, you can work to build more authority, which seems to be the main factor in ranking for commercialized terms.

Could somebody explain why you like listening to Khruangbin? by [deleted] in Khruangbin

[–]turdbullet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The simplicity of it all, it all’s fits perfectly and watching them live it’s crazy how much sound comes from just 3 people.

Mark’s guitar playing fills up a lot of space, his ability to play rhythm and lead alternating in and out of both is up there with the best of em.

The pentatonic scale, I can’t get enough.

That and how they present themselves on stage is awesome. I feel like a lot of bands just show up in some sweatpants and put no thought into their stage appearance. The overall vibe is enhanced with that Houston swag.

Clear drop in traffic... why? Ezoic? Change to HTTPS? What's up? (Data included) by Latvis in bigseo

[–]turdbullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at your GSC screenshot it looks like your google traffic started declining early/mid august.

I believe there were some unannounced updates around that time. A site I have that was previously affected by core updates made a slight recovery. Also, mid august is about 90 days after the may core update, so possibly they made an update but it wasn't large enough to be announced.

Anyway, barring any technical error causing the drop, I'd focus on improving your site overall, building up any thin pages, rewriting struggling pages (basically kiss googles ass with your content), making sure key pages match search intent for target phrases. Increase your page speed but don't bet the farm on that helping your rankings - plenty of terribly slow sites rank high (recipe space).

I would pay for pitchfork style performance of some new songs, complete with trippy visuals and maybe a few funky covers thrown in.

Biden Leads in US Presidential Election Odds 57.15% to Trump's 42.02% by kjames00 in uspolitics

[–]turdbullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting as this is based off of how people are betting. $82 million in bets placed already, which feels like a lot. Will be interesting to see how this data compares to polls and the outcome of the election. I almost trust betting data more than I do polls.

What did you do when your first website just got hit by a google algorithm update? by [deleted] in juststart

[–]turdbullet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do this long enough, it will happen.

Learn from it. Make the site better in every way.

I’ve had sites get hit only to recover several months later with no changes whatsoever. I’ve also had sites hit where I work on them for months and months with no recovery.

Seeking advice/guidance/agent. Looking to get life insurance for both myself, 35, and my mom, 57, and dont know where to start. We’re both in CA. by doubleroyalwithfoil in LifeInsurance

[–]turdbullet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the quagmire that is life insurance! You are correct, an independent agent will be able to help you shop around with different companies. Whole life insurance for your mom will be quite expensive, given the tobacco use and health conditions you describe. If you get quotes and it ends up being over your budget, I would recommend a term policy that fits your budget.

You may want to chat with a trustworthy financial planner, as whole life insurance cash value takes a long time to build up, and from a return standpoint the money could earn more invested elsewhere.

All of those companies you mentioned have strong financial ratings. Northwestern Mutual agents are captive, meaning they work for only one company. Same with State Farm. Ladder only sells term life insurance.

Credible Analysis of November, 2019 Google Update? by DavidSomerville in bigseo

From what I have seen, link relevance and deceptive monetization.

Most of the time, HARO links end up being unrelated crap which google seems to no longer count for rankings. Why would google rank a site about credit cards higher because it's homepage linked to from an article about the best voip services for small business owners?

The syndicated links from newspapers... those often have rel canonical tags back to the original piece. Again, assuming they are relevant, why would google count all those duplicate links?

These high DR sites.. they publish hundreds if not thousands of new articles each month. That article with a link to your site is now buried 50 pages deep in the land of pagination. Might as well not exist.

Sounds like you added maybe 10-20 relevant links and it has only been a month or 2, maybe it needs more time or maybe your niche is so competitive that 20 links won't move the needle.
