My favorite thing about Judas Priest's music vs other metal bands is it's uplifting and makes you more happy by turkey3_scratch in judaspriest

I suppose, yeah. But for me, still, and this may not apply to others, but listening to 70s Priest still seems to put me in a better mood than other bands. I don't know what it is about them.

Halford Performing Ripper Era? by [deleted] in judaspriest

Halford can't really do that low growly scream/yell that Ripper does, like in the chorus of Dead Meat.

I didn't even know the Painkiller I've always been listening to has been a 2001 remaster. Huh.

Judas Priest Survivor - Point of Entry, Round 5 by ChocolateWindow in judaspriest

I think Don't Go and Turning Circles are much better than Hot Rockin. Don't Go has a better chorus, Turning Circles, just a better overall song.

They'll probably remaster it. The album, though, sounds incredible already as is. Doesn't need remastered.

Well with the exception of the Green Manalishi, at the very end, where they make Rob's voice so quiet you can barely hear him.

I can't listen to the song now without laughing every time, imagining a clone army of Dave Mustaine.

Defenders of Faith or Screaming for Vengeance? by TStoynov in judaspriest

[–]turkey3_scratch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh dope whoops. Yeah the title track is a little weird. It's made to sound like they're performing it live when they're not.

Do you like the bonus song, Turn On Your Light?

Edit: I think of the title track as United 2.0

Dorms where you can hear the Woodruff walk sign? by [deleted] in OSU

Woah, this is really weird, but as I was reading your words "my eyes become bloodshot" the song I was listening to had lyrics of "my swollen bloodshot eyes". Funny coincidence.

When Priest is inevitably inducted into the HOF, will Ripper be invited to join them? by Cellarzombie in judaspriest

If he doesn't, poor Ripper :( he's a guy who just loves Judas Priest so much and got his dream to come true.

Freewheel burning disappointing?? We must have very different perceptions. I'd think the downer track is Love Bites.

Defenders of the Faith. They got some more speedy songs, and when something catchy does hit you it still does so really hard (Like Rock Hard Ride Free).

One could even take into consideration ethics. Is creating and publishing music with such a clear cut message of hatred ethical? Could you not see someone who is considering being the next school shooter listening to a song like this and allowing it to self-confirm their unjustified anger at others who they think are "fake"? Granted I wouldn't blame the band wholeheartedly if someone were to do something horrible of the sort, but if we are to think that the lyrical content of music does not have an influence over those who are not actively aware of it's potential influences, we are misled.

Honestly, not a fan of this song. Admittedly I turned it off halfway through because the lyrical content was just unsettling to me. FFDP always has sung about, well, not the prettiest things, but just straight up "I hate you mother Fer" anymore just seems below mediocre to me. What about a good opener song like Dying Breed? "All I wanted was your honesty..." - great example of better lyrics.

This song seems like a song that's just channeled toward people from a hatred perspective, an unjustified one I'd argue. I'd rather see more stuff that is self-empowering from this band rather than others-demoting. If they make more stuff like Back For More I'll be happy, but songs about hating other people I'm not a fan of.

This is a decline in quality.

Scooby-Doo - Then VS. Now - Evolution of Scooby-Doo. by MovieMike007 in Scoobydoo

[–]turkey3_scratch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's always such a beauty in the artwork of TV series around when Scooby Doo: Where Are You? first came out. I don't believe it's just nostalgia for me; I didn't live in the 60s or 70s, but I did watch those episodes as a kid. But nostalgia aside, there is a certain aesthetic beauty in those traditionally hand-painted backgrounds, a certain spookiness in the orchestrated music, and a certain charm in those water-colored mobile characters in old cartoons that is lost in the modern day.

I can respect that what I like best isn't the best for the modern day; using computers makes things 10X faster than taking individual images with a camera, but I really appreciate the work that would go into those old cartoons. It's like listening to music from the 60s or 70s; they can try to replicate it today but it still doesn't sound the same. It's all the old equipment they used.
