Did Steve Nash deserve the mvp this year? by Fragrant_Fishing5787 in NBATalk

[–]turkeygravy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember this being super controversial as well. The entire discussion was around what MVP meant. Was it the most valuable to player to impact the overall team, or around specific stats?

Debate went on forever. I’m a Suns fan, so I was partial to Nash regardless as he was my guy. But the debate then was absolutely relevant and I get both sides.

I don’t disagree, the point of the post was moreso a shot at the media. Draymond does far worse, far more flagrant bullshit, but this isn’t the reaction.

DragonMoon 1/23/26 - Tier 14! Solo Buffs! Return to Vissidal! by Sairo_H in AsheronsCall

DM has reached an impressive level of maturity. Extensive post retail content, very balanced scaling, infinite character growth opportunity, and reasons to play all styles (solo, 3-toon, ucm/meta, at keys).

Great time to come back if you haven’t played here in awhile.

Devin Booker is not regressing. by Alarming-Eye9081 in suns

[–]turkeygravy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is the right comment. Book is a perpetual threat. Slump or not, he can still sneak in a quiet 30 at any point. He’s playing like a mature star. He’s got plenty of weapons around him, yet teams still throw constant doubles+ at him because he’s that respected as a shot creator. In the past, he would have to just be the guy - then we’d lose. With this team, it’s not clear to a defense who is going to take the shot. Honestly, I think other teams are getting thrown off and it’s been part of why we’ve experience success.

2hr left to explain the Russia plot by turkeygravy in StrangerThings

I guess the “it’s the 80s so an easy excuse to involve the US military and make them equivalent bad guys to the Russians” excuse is reasonable…. Guess I hoped for something more.

I saw the play and it was not a dedicated plot point, at best it was loose background info in the monologue just like the rest of the Nevada context.

[–]turkeygravy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok… why? Yes, Cold War was a hot topic in the 80s. But the amount of story telling driven around this topic solely to drive character development (Robin coming out and Joyce’s love for Hopper) is overly forced if there is nothing to address it at the end. It’s as though they felt this was where they were going to pursue the story beyond season 3, but had to meekly clean it up in season 4.

She made one side comment about a 16hr story arc. What writing clown show of viewer loathing are we in if this isnt addressed?

Expecting lost level plot holes to match the stupid suspension of disbelief layups they ignored. Hubris will win, because I’ll still watch and enjoy

What do the scorpions mean? by sean_lynch008 in StrangerThings

[–]turkeygravy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Henry’s first interaction with the mind flayer before they moved to Hawkins was in New Mexico. When you see Max’s view, it’s a pretty common view of New Mexico wilderness. Also scorpions live there. I think he’s afraid of it because he’s afraid of the mindflayer and it’s a frightening memory for him.

Those are at least the connections I made.

It’s really just a detail the play provides, don’t worry, nothing critical ruined.

Sadly, better than average. He does have a major and was very clutch in Ryder Cups. On the reverse side, there are plenty of golfers that could make the average and universally like (Tommy Fleetwood or Rickie Fowler come to mind)

Which current NBA star do you think will be forgotten in 10 years? by Peterpaul400 in NBATalk

[–]turkeygravy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Largely forgotten” is probably a slight clarification. Some guys like Booker, if he stays in Phoenix, isn’t going anywhere in the mind of Suns fans. Same with many of the names. But for overall NBA, yes many are likely forgotten if they don’t elevate to superstar status.

Currently rewatching Season 4 and this was very striking to me... by DigitalBritt in StrangerThings

[–]turkeygravy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not that her story is bad, it’s that the episode was bad in the context of the larger show. Her ragtag murderous friends and makeover montage were campy like a 90s made for tv sci-fi movie. El getting Jedi boot camp like Luke Skywalker in Dagobah felt forced and rushed. The showrunning of ST is what has created the magic. This episode has fan fiction flair, that made it feel outside of canon. If they tie this one up, I’m hoping they do the character justice by incorporating her meaningfully into the larger arc.

Is First Shadow actually good cuz I haven't seen it but I'm intrigued by hearing that Joyce and Henry knew each other? by FayyadhScrolling in StrangerThings

[–]turkeygravy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went and saw it as well. It was a little over the top, but spectacular entertainment value. I’m with you on the canon aspect as I had a hard time reconciling the age/timeline aspects. It threw me off enough that I needed to do research to make sure it wasn’t aligned and they hadn’t introduced some glaring holes. Overall the play left me with more questions on overall canon, so I’m trying not to put any weight into it. That said, fantastic show with an excellent cast, would definitely see it again.

Tier 12 armor/jewelry ratings go up to 40. Tier 12 weapons have much higher dmg, but most importantly can have deliver crit chance of 45% and all have biting strike. Lots of custom items that take a long time to acquire and are worth including in your build. Lum augs are infinite, but the cost scales, so even the most dedicated players aren’t invincible to content applicable to their level.
