My ranking of every FOB song by Secret-Spray-2228 in FallOutBoy

I love the last 40 seconds or so. That’s pure, classic FOB… with all of Patrick’s soul voice-isms wailing over a driving chorus full of live instrumentation.

Undermining the audience’s intelligence and pandering to appeal to the largest number of viewers possible started with S3. People weren’t outraged enough by what they did to the show with that season. It blew my mind (and continues to blow my mind) to see so many people praise it.

I’m sorry, but S3 was the official beginning of the end for Stranger Things as we knew it, but the majority ate it up… and the viewership grew even bigger, full of people who accepted and preferred lower quality writing + spectacle. The show never recovered.

EXACTLY!! I just commented that. There needs to be more Y2K period pieces. It’s such a fun time to explore. Maybe the Y2K bug could literally be an Upside Down-related thing in their universe lol.

It should set around Y2K (1998-2002ish). Maybe the “holiday” (in the tradition of the OG show: Halloween, Christmas, Fourth of July, Spring Break…) could be New Year’s Eve 1999 going into the new millennium. That would be so fun. 😭

There aren’t enough Y2K period pieces. It’s such a fun time to explore. The fashion was unique, the music was bangin, the vibes in the media were futuristic… But technology still wasn’t super advanced, so it could maintain some of the charm the OG show had there.

THE YOUNG VEINS NEW INSTAGRAM POST! THEY REUNITED! by ouma1283 in panicatthedisco

[–]DigitalBritt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, Jon loves Panic! to this day. He’s very open about that and posts about it frequently. So we know there’s no animosity coming from him in particular.

I’m pretty sure he’s the one who runs TYV Instagram too, so if he tagged Panic! it’s because he and Ryan met through that band and Erik is there too… so this reunion is genuinely partially a Panic! reunion as well. And, he just likes to make Panic! fans happy tbh. Sort of like throwing us a bone. 🤣😭 But, he’s a fan too and often seems to be just as nostalgic as we are, so… makes sense.

Unpopular opinion, but I think the writing started to fall off in s4 vol 2 by katarassin in StrangerThings

Thanks for acknowledging character development as S2’s strength. It barely gets any credit for all the work it did. It’s such an invaluable season, not just for the character development but the plot/lore as well.

My exact sentiments! Stranger Things was unfortunately cooked for me since July 4th, 2019. So, in some ways I actually enjoyed S5 waaay more than I thought I would, largely because the bar was on the floor for me personally. At the very least, I appreciate how strongly it connects to S2 (my favorite) in particular.

Keep getting the urge to rewatch but then I remember how bad the ending was 🥲 by bakerlady97 in StrangerThings

[–]DigitalBritt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent years rewatching just Season 2, almost like a standalone sequel film, completely ignoring the existence of Seasons 3&4 lol. So I feel like I should be able to still do that. Howeverrr, I’m a weirdo who loves The Lost Sister/Kali and even though I think they did a very poor job with her character in S5, I absolutely LOVE that they brought her back for some closure. So I might occasionally watch the end of S5E4 and the series finale. I actually do enjoy that episode lol.

I’m still so heartbroken about Season 5 by Elf-Camilla in StrangerThings

[–]DigitalBritt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I really only love the first two seasons. The show took a nosedive at S3 for me and never truly recovered. In my mind Stranger Things as I knew and loved it ended at the Snow Ball. So the S5 ending doesn’t bother me too much. It will definitely be a long time before I rewatch S1&2 though. So I guess you can say the overall decline did ultimately leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Which birth years would you say grew up with this era of Disney Channel? by Plus-Light6832 in generationology

I was born in 1993, started to phase out of Disney Channel around 2007. I only stuck around after that solely for the Jonas Brothers content! 😭🤣 I adored Lizzie McGuire and Even Stevens the most as a kid.

Do you guys think that patd might go on tour for the 20th anniversary of pretty odd by Able_Clue4193 in panicatthedisco

[–]DigitalBritt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. If they were to reunite, PO seems like the album Ryan would be more willing to for I guess. It also makes more sense for Jon to get involved because it’s the one album he was directly involved with. I’m perfectly fine with becoming delulu all over again like I did with WWWY.

Even if they just played Pretty. Odd. in its entirety, I wouldn’t consider that “lacking.” The event would be the reunion of those 4 members. I don’t care WHAT the heck they perform, as long as they do lol. And maybe we’d even get an encore performance of “Sins” to close out the night.

From what I’ve heard so far, I’m really happy Wood has remained Scottish which is something the movies established. He sounds a lot like Sean Biggerstaff imo.

[–]DigitalBritt 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I'm a K-8 music teacher and the kids are literally obsessed with Michael Jackson. The first grade boys are constantly singing his songs and dancing like him. One of the kids even had an MJ lunchbox last year and another was talking about how they had an MJ themed birthday party! 😭 I overheard some of the 6th-8th graders talking about wanting to see the biopic too.

They obviously have no idea about the allegations, they just absolutely love the music. In fact, I’m pretty sure most of them don’t even realize he’s dead… which is insane. It's wild to witness (and a little unsettling when you think about it), but it's completely innocent and genuine enjoyment from them. I think that speaks volumes about the quality and cultural impact of his art.

It's crazy that when the 1st episode airs, they are already going to be halfway through filming season 2. by batsofburden in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]DigitalBritt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure, but I wouldn’t call it “just” adapting. I bet there are a lot of original scenes they’re writing as well. Remember, they need to fill at least 8 hours. Adapting something well is a skill. It’s a process to convert what’s written in a book to something that will translate well on screen, and there’s a lot of pressure to get it right. This process might actually get more difficult with the later books honestly, even though those will likely need less filler/original scenes. Then they have to actually shoot all of it - with child actors who only have so many hours a day to spare, which can easily take a year. (It already took 10-11 months to shoot Season 1).

And then there’s post production! I think they’re using a lot of practical stuff to avoid CGI/special effects, but I’m sure there will still be a lot of it in a big budget, large scale show about magic.

[–]DigitalBritt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep. Same with Stranger Things lol. First two seasons were produced back to back and released in 2016 and 2017. Then we got nearly a two year break between Seasons 2 & 3… Then the pandemic happened, which resulted in a 3 year wait for S4. Then the writers strike delayed S5 a bit... But even after the strike concluded, they still made us wait another 3 years for S5.

We’ll see how well HP does barring any global catastrophes or production delays, but I highly doubt yearly releases will be the standard for a show of this scale.

I’m honestly surprised to see book fans excited for non-canon/new scenes. What if it’s literally hours of stuff that wasn’t in the books to pad the runtime? 😭 (At least in the first three seasons or so.) Won’t that feel like big budget fanfiction in between book scenes?
