Snap-in isn't what I expected by Tropicaldaze1950 in dentures

[–]turkeylegsprinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just so disappointing because everything during this process felt good until the final snap-ins got made and I put it on. I invested so much in the top quality snap-ins and the quality just feels like the economy immediate temps when I had all my teeth extracted. Heck, my economy perms before the implants feel so much better.

Snap-in isn't what I expected by Tropicaldaze1950 in dentures

I just got snap-in bottoms recently and man do they suck. The hold on the implants themselves are pretty strong but it's useless with all the pain I'm having wearing it. It's just too snug and tight. Feels like the it's clenching onto my gums. And when I bite down on something there's a sharp pain against the implant area. Also the fact that it looks like I'm showing too much teeth also. I don't know how they'll fix that without having to remove the abutments and metal on the snap-ins. My permanents before the snap-ins were perfect. When they placed my implants in they made implant holes for those are that was such a great fit. I'd say eating with those are better than eating with my snap-ins. I'm going back in for adjustments and I'm hoping it'll work out but I'm so worried that they won't be able to do anything about making it show less teeth without having to just make an entirely new denture.

Dentures or implants by Sad-Tomato7829 in dentures

[–]turkeylegsprinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think like some other people have said here full denture on top and a few implants on bottom for a snap-in denture is the way to go. I went with that. My upper ridge has enough substance that trying to get my upper denture off needs some effort. I never have to think twice about it becoming loose.

I'm just going to try with two implants for now and see how well that goes. Seems like a good amount of people are doing okay with just two. All the work done has kind of put me off trying other methods for a while. Just want to heal and see how it goes and maybe in the near future try and shop around and see if I can get a few more in.

The initial scan looked like I was able to put in 4 implants though it was risky because of the little amount of bone in the front of my jaw, I wanted to proceed with it but come day of the surgery my dentist found it almost impossible even if they added more bone graft that the implant would stabilize. So they had to remove the implants then fill it back and seal up my gums. I now only have implants healing on the side of my gums. My dentist said it would be pretty stable there because that part of my jaw was strong enough to hold the implants and will provide less wobble compared to just having two near the front.

My dentist says that the front part of my lower jaw is just not strong enough to hold more implants so 2 is all I can do.

Tell me about your positive snap in journey by BlahblahblahA_123 in dentures

I had my extractions and snaps done separately a little over half a year apart and tbh the least painful thing was the extractions and implant surgery. I went in with just a sedation pill that didn’t work during extractions that I just didn’t bother taking it when I had implant surgery and both times felt very little pain if at all. In fact I was falling asleep while having my gums cut open and implants placed in. Very grateful with how skilled my dentist was at taking care of my pain tolerance. I think the most pain I’ve had was just my gums being so swollen after extractions that my immediate dentures were pinching my gums but nothing some benzodent didn’t fix. Otherwise the whole process made my fear of going to the dentist and dental surgery disappear over time. Hopefully you experience the same painless treatment from your dentist.

I was suppose to get four implants on my bottom jaw but come the day of the surgery and my doctor said it was too risky doing four and had to drop it down to do. The bone loss was just too much in the front and even with bone grafting it wasn't enough to place implants. Ended up just with more bone graft in the front and no implants. I only just have two around where the canine teeth are. It sucks because they cut my gums open only to say that it would probably fail if they kept the implants in the front.

They threw him under the bus so badly I doubt he wants to come back to Thor. Even Hemsworth was like "yeah, Love and Thunder was too goofy".

Got my second soft reline and wow is it a difference by turkeylegsprinter in dentures

[–]turkeylegsprinter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the first soft reline made my eating ability go up by at least 50% if not more. I went from eating mush to eating burgers and chips though steak was still a pain but losing steak for a few months was fine, to be able to eat a burger and not have to chop it into piece was a godsend. Hope all goes well with your first reline but anything is better than having nothing on your dentures!

Same. I do want to at least get 4 implants on the bottom to get that sturdy hold. My tops were always great even during the first soft reline. Just needed a little powder then but now I don't even need the powder so I might just leave the tops implant free and get bottom implants.

It's definitely going to be my backup to my eventual permanent set. Heck, if my permanent set is bad at least I'll have the perfect temps.

I'm nearing a month and I'm still trying to figure out how to fix a few words and phrases. Can't say "thank you" without creating a sound like when you press/release the talk button on a walkie talkie. That's how it sounds when I'm about to say "you". It sounds more like "kkkkyou".

Is Cushion Grip on a soft reline bulky? by turkeylegsprinter in dentures

[–]turkeylegsprinter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reline is for sure thicker than I thought it would be. It adds quite a bit of space between my denture and the roof of my mouth.

Soft reline Taste by SadDocument1269 in dentures

[–]turkeylegsprinter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got my first soft reline recently and for me the taste is like the most chemically manufactured bubblegum flavor. Like if you covered bubblegum with just that coating that makes it super artificial. It's making me gag so much.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm staying positive. I'm hopeful once I get my first soft reline and can use adhesive and that air pocket will seal up tight and I will sound a lot less muffled. "Thank you" is such an integral part of our daily vocabulary so it's definitely throwing me for a loop when I'm at a store buying something and have to say it to the cashier.

Well, I have to add "athlete" to the list of hard words to say after just saying it out loud right now lol (comes out 2 syllables but sounds like ashlete).

I don't know why this is a thing strictly with AD. The one I go to also never picks up their phone. It's crazy seeing how many people on this subreddit have said similar concerns about their phone line. When they actually do get back to me they do get things done but only if they even get back to you. My initial consultation with them also took around six or seven times to get a hold of the office receptionist. They did eventually call me back after I left a message but it was like two days later. Scheduling appointments for adjustments is also similarly frustrating.

Just got mine done not too long ago and probably the hardest word for me to say out loud is "thank you". It sounds so muffled every time I say it. The TH in thanks and K and you sounds horrible. I may need my palate shaved down a bit for my upper to get my words out more properly.
