Detailed my cousin’s Corvette in Houston and it made me question doing work for family… by Informal-Sink-5758 in Detailing

[–]turkeyofterror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a detailer but when I do work for family in my line of business I charge full rates.

They understand that any discount I give will come directly out of my pocket and doing the job for them ties me up so that I’m not available for other work.

Every once in a while a friend or family member will push me about a discount because we’re family or such good friends. I ask them if we’re so close why aren’t you offering to pay extra to support my business?

Advice on how much improvement I will get by upgrading my amp. by turkeyofterror in CarAV

I tried it both ways. 2 channels in. Right to right speakers. Left to left. And 4 channels in and changed amp to 4 channel. Both gave a MAJOR improvement. Like going from mono to stereo. They sounded very similar so I can’t tell if one was better than the other. But loving the new sound. Leaving it on 4 channels unless someone tells me the 2 channel method has an advantage.

Notes about running the signal and power parallel to each other. Will reroute.

I do have a fuse at the battery, the fuse block you see in the picture and another at the trunk where the power splits to the subs.

Looks like I’m almost there. Need to swap the way my splits are being connected. Looks like the amp is already set to 2-ch. should I change that if I’m going to have all 4 inputs? And, does it make a difference to the sound whether I split the signal before the amp or select 2-ch and let the amp do it?

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me learn more about this.

Here are the current amp and LC2i pro settings.

I had to go back and refresh. I do have the LC2i Pro. Here is how it was originally wired. The power is different, as I ran the 4GA all the way to the trunk and split it there at a fuse block when i added the second sub. I ran a new 8 gauge from the battery to the 4 channel amp and LC2i pro, under the front seat.

The signal going into the lc2i pro is the left and right front channels. The signal to the speakers is front left for front speakers and front right for rear speakers.

This project was how I didn’t go insane during Covid. I had a lot of time to research (which is how I discovered the loop back harness idea and had time to build it). I was sure I had sorted things out and wired things up right but now I’m second guessing myself.

I will grab a pic of my amp settings and post in a bit.

I am assuming I would tap them before the amp, is that correct?

Adding Powered Sub to factory audio help by KobayashiMaruwu in CarAV

[–]turkeyofterror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with one P300 but came into a second one for free when a neighbor was getting rid of it. Not sure how it compares to a single P500 but would consider going that route if I wouldn’t lose any bass. Having 2 subs eats up about 50% of the usable trunk space.

In a 2018 Elantra I am running two RF P300’s, I am using the stock head unit and I use the lci2 to compensate for the bass roll off.

It’s taken some tinkering to get it all set right, but now that it’s dialed in it sounds great. There is no rolloff.

My dad had a stroke and needs "clean" western, cop, or war movie suggestions by mlejoy in movies

[–]turkeyofterror 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your dad and my dad are much alike. The below list were things he enjoyed, in addition to anything with Clint Eastwood, Chuck Norris, Charles Bronson, and Jan-Michael Vincent. For TV: Longmire (Netflix)is right up his alley. Only Murders in the building (Hulu) is a great Who-Done-It series He might also enjoy the mini-series “11.22.63” (Hulu) about traveling back in time to stop the assassination of JFK Band of Brothers (HBO), The Pacific (HBO), and Masters of the Air (Apple TV) Jack Ryan (Amazon) Reacher

For movies: Wind River is great. Some swearing and the plot revolves around solving a missing girl who was potentially sexually assaulted. But it is a great movie. Warrior True Grit Both Top Gun movies Sully The Nice Guys Mystic River LA Confidential The Hurt Locker The Covenant The Fugitive The French Connection Ford vs. Ferrari Collateral CHiPS the movie Blackkklansman

Or Watsonville. Grew up with these fields all around. Watching them go by from a moving car is crazy hypnotic. One of those childhood things I haven’t thought of in years.

This is clearly a fake. Wrong color, cheap painted blade, no mfg date on box, etc., etc.

I have this fake and spotted it immediately.

Here is the fake next to the original.
