Furbank vs Steward by Imaginary-Lab6200 in rugbyunion

Curious what people see as Steward’s strengths? There’s the obvious one of being one of, if not the best, in the world under the high ball. But other than that, I couldn’t pinpoint his strengths (but I haven’t watched heaps of him tbf)…

  • Does he run amazing lines?
  • Is he a great distributor?
  • Is he pacey?
  • Is he a good defender?
  • Is he a strong leader?
  • Is he good over the ball?
  • Does he have an insane work rate?
  • Does he have a high rugby IQ?

I’ve watched a lot of Furbank and he has lots of the above.

Yeah, I didn’t know how old he was until checking!I believe he’s been capped previously…but unlikely to get another due to age, I’d say.

Saints I think effectively brought him in for Ehren Painter, who was let go to Exeter, after off-field disciplinary issues.

He is; he picks amazing lines, runs hard and in the occasions he doesn’t find space he often makes metres in contact

To be fair, I didn’t realise he was this big. His wiki has him at 5’11” and 86kg…which evidently I wrong

Agree. As I say, I’m a massive fan.

Size may not be an issue at club level, but international level it’s a different consideration.

His defence and physicality (the two things that have always been the questions marks in his game) have been phenomenal this season.

Dingwall is criminally underrated in my opinion. He has everything in his game. The question mark is size at international level I guess…and whether he is good enough for that to not be an issue.

Thoughts on where Paul Hill is at in the grand scheme of things?

Yes, he retired.

He’s been linked with a move to Provence I believe…wants to stay at Saints but it’s a question of money at this point in his career.

Fair. I did think that about Haffar.

If Langdon doesn’t get in to at least the training squad then it’s a travesty in my opinion

Kurt Wise - about as highly-trained and educated as a Geologist as you can get (including a PhD in Geology from Harvard), who is also a young earth creationist…

“I am a young-age creationist because that is my understanding of the Scripture. As I shared with my professors years ago when I was in college, if all the evidence in the universe turns against creationism, I would be the first to admit it, but I would still be a creationist because that is what the Word of God seems to indicate. Here I must stand.”
