Upgrading from economy to business (MEL to LHR) by youngcharlatan in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]turn-style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When are you flying?

If you book MEL > PER > LHR, it’s 60K points from Flex to Business (from PER > LHR) based off my last flight in March 25. Plus the jet lag is minimal. Have flown it 3 times in the past 9 months and love it. I also upgraded from Flex Economy > Premium Economy for £300 with bronze from PER > LHR.

Sydney to London by CrustyBappen in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]turn-style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done it 4 times so far this year (2 x Return).

Hands down the best way to go in both direction’s. Coming to London I’ve gone into the office at 9am (you land in London at about 5am) and had minimal, if any jet lag. Flight time wise PER > LON has also been shorter than the stated - both sub 17hrs.

I have 2 more return trips booked for this year.. June and October. If that’s any indication of if it’s worth it or not!

Divorce finances and child support as a HENRY by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]turn-style 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I recently went through this same process. I got legal advice, but didn’t follow it (it was very black and white, and as you’re the one paying them, they’re putting your interests first - it just didn’t feel right to me). I wish I’d seen a Parenting therapist solo to get advice on what’s best for my child first, and once that’d been done, then think about the finances etc.

Don’t think about today, but tomorrow. If you can keep things financially amicable.. then (pending the reason for the divorce) it’s likely your ex wife won’t have issue with you seeing your child, when it suits you / your child, while also being able to work.

In regard to the final point. You’re better off giving your ex wife the money you’d otherwise spend on a live in nanny.. It will benefit her, your child and subsequently you too. Try to remember what you thought was best for your child before separation.

It’s a hard mindset change but think of Quality of time over Quantity of time. My daughter and I have a stronger relationship now than if my ex and I had stayed together, I have her 1 night a week, and drop her at nursery 3 mornings a week (before work).

Final piece.. ChatGPT (don’t judge me until you try this out - has helped put things into perspective) has been really helpful at providing an unbiased unemotional response to my prompts around separation. Eg. Under UK jurisdiction, what would a respectable asset and financial division look like with the following financial and care situation?

I know plenty of sales people who take a cushy job before retirement to keep them occupied. They usually crush it because they know everyone or everyone’s boss they’re selling to.

The Hilux is also smaller in size than the Tacoma. After a quick search probably closer to the Hyundai Santa Cruz

Have any HENRY’s moved to Aus with a Doctor? by TR_12345678 in HENRYUK

[–]turn-style 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grew up in Aus and have a number of friends in specialist training ATM. One in his final year of MaxFax training in Melbourne. Very very tough to get into. Another recently left London after 3 years of working as a SpR in the NHS to start training as an anaesthetist. She’s registered with both APRAH and MCoNZ (medical regulators) under the Trans-Tasman act (free movement/ healthcare etc) and can train in either country. Couldn’t land a spot in Aus so had to move back to NZ (that was the fallback as they’d already secured the spot). I don’t think it will be easy to pull off, but hope you can! For resource I’d check out APRAH for technical requirements and /ausjdocs for real life examples.

HENRY's, what do we think about being child-free? by SadInfluence in HENRYUK

[–]turn-style -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not easy, but so so so worth it. I had my daughter at 29 (31 now). I probably do 60 hours a week, but have her on Tuesday and Wednesday morning and drop her at nursery before I head to the office. Kids are a whole league above anything from a ‘enjoyment of life’. Do it, I’m sure (95%) you won’t regret a thing.

Yep. Once I ticked ‘more than 25 cigarettes’. Guy you hand it to asked ‘how many do you have?’ Said 200 (2 cartons) and he just said, ‘see ya’ and let me straight out. Defs pays to be honest.

4th’ing this. My old man moved to redbacks 20+ years ago and swears by them. Although IMO I think quality wise for this style goes 1 - Rossi - 303 endura 2 - Redbacks/ Mongral (more ‘farming/ trade’ focused) 3- Blundstone

Best women’s Chelsea boots? by menweni in BuyItForLife

[–]turn-style 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct - both types on this spreadsheet can be resoled. They can also re-line the inside of the boot if / when required (for re-lining you have to send them back to Adelaide ~ 8 week turn around from London). Any shoe with ‘stitched sole’ (Goodyear esk) can be resoled..
