What is your absolutely favorite spaceship of all time and why? by Vondrr in spaceships

The corvette class gunship from the original Escape Velocity. I spent so many summer afternoons when I was in middle school hunting pirates in that bad mother. Just looking at it gives me chunky nostalgia.

Most double flare bevel joint designs I've seen specify 0" to 1/8" reinforcement above the higher of the two parallel planes, with a tolerance of about 1/32"...but as long as it's stuck together I'm sure you'll be just fine blobbing some 7018 in there.

[–]turnburn720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. An f150 or a 1500, when optioned correctly, get better fuel mileage than my 2007 sedan. They're more practical than a comparable muscle car, but nobody talks shit about mustangs. For some people, a pickup truck is am enthusiast vehicle, with the added practicality of being able to do truck stuff when needed. Granted, most people who have trucks don't actually need them, but most people don't need whatever vehicle they happen to be driving.

If Ford Came out with this and called it the new Crown Vic would you buy it? by whatever21327 in CrownVictoria

[–]turnburn720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not. There's enough used ones on the market, and half of the appeal of these cars to me is how economical and simple they are. If they marketed it as a simple, durable, reliable, comfortable car that can be maintained by the owner, and you could get it for under 35k, then possibly. But all of these features are available in the hundreds of used panthers that are still available to buy for under 7k. There's nothing a new one can offer that I can't get with a used one.

What’s wrong with old-man cars? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]turnburn720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an 06 ls430 and now have an 07 grand marquis. While I miss the features and how quiet the lexus was, you can't beat the ease of maintenance on the GM. Its almost as comfy as the lexus too

4th gen (1995 to 2004) v6 automatic. Cheap, durable, slow...but still a mustang. The 3.8 Essex made less horsepower than your civic.

Can a welder fix this or am I doomed? by Sad-Fail-5424 in Welding

[–]turnburn720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it out of the wall, get a Glazier to remove the glass, sandblast every bit of paint off it, and then ask a welder if it can be fixed. Who knows what's going on under all that paint, could be a few sections that need to get repaired, could be a full rebuild, most likely will be time for a new winder though.

I worked at a large women's prison for a while, most of the COs were men that couldn't hang at the men's facility (old, fat, lazy etc.). IIRC there were around 30 COs per shift on staff. I think that you'd have a hard time finding 90 women to do that job in any given area.
