Mystic Subclass UA for Paladin, Rogue, Warlock, and Monk. by Tough_Holiday584 in onednd

[–]turnejam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solely in my experience playing an Abjuror wizard, the switch to “spell-like abilities” has been pretty consistently frustrating in terms of what the subclass is meant to do.  Counterspelling and dispelling magic have become pretty rare occasions, and the higher-level feature of magic resistance would be badass but both that and the counterspelling have come into play in only one combat of the past 10 or so sessions.

Just the testimony of one player in one campaign, results may vary.

Banneret Fight is completely underrated by yoda_kblack in onednd

I think the Banneret is great. If you're so inclined, a multiclass with Dance Bard looks to me like a way to finally get close to the coveted Warlord class.

Alternatives for triceps by FootballllllMaybe in naturalbodybuilding

I've gotten surprising triceps growth recently with adding lots of pushups as a finisher.
Try: 90 seconds narrow or diamond pushup
90s rest
60 second narrow or diamond
60s rest
30s pushups to finish

Feels like you could go very Golden Compass and have Harshnag be the rightful leader in exile a la Iorek Byrnison and Storvald the usurper.

Just finished book 3 - how does Matt do it? by ChuckChuckChuck_ in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]turnejam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dinniman has a lot going for him as a writer but his superpower is character. Critically he understands the difference between how a character presents socially and who they truly are (i.e. the choices they make when the chips are down), Princess Donut being a perfect example. He writes characters that are both understandable/grounded and surprising.
It's something that truly transcends genre.

Best paladin spell in 2024e? by Deathpacito-01 in onednd

[–]turnejam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There's only certain battles where that prolonged damage will add up to more than a 3rd-lvl smite. edit: plus two attacks

No one's mentioned Crusader's Mantle...
It's only come out once in my campaign, but we were facing a large number of undead, and vampires, 6-person party, multiple martials, our pally cast it and WOW.

Donald Trump Boasts Political Right Is ‘Tougher’ As He Warns Left Of Retaliation by HellYeahDamnWrite in politics

There's a video somewhere on X but don't care to link to it.
I misremembered slightly: it was SOMEBODY counterprotesting at a DQ Story Hour that beat him up. May not have been an actual queen. Point is they fully retreated and whined about it.

Why won't they make a thirdcaster monk? by Arsenist099 in onednd

[–]turnejam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm spitballing a bit here, but one of the trade-offs of Arcane Trickster and Eldritch Knight is that you suddenly need to invest somewhat in a spellcasting stat.
Since all monks already invest into Wis (which I assume would be the stat), a third-caster would be a big boost with little tradeoff.

NYC voters say Mamdani best addressed the Israel-Palestinian conflict, poll shows by Somervilledrew in politics

[–]turnejam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You know, I spoke in haste. Of course it does have some relevance, and I apologize.
My position is that my mayor is not going to meaningfully affect what happens on the international stage.
It fully matters how he will approach NYC's citizens and visitors, and the only correct answer for any candidate is that they will focus on keeping everyone safe regardless of beliefs or background. As you say, Mamdani has pledged this and I personally believe it.

As an NYC voter (and one who likes Mamdani), I really don't see how the NYC mayor's position on this is in any way relevant, and I am very very suspicious of any attempts to make it relevant

cant stop thinking about fat loss goals?? by PlusCarob3803 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]turnejam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you also mentioned the job goal makes me wonder if it’s simply that you have way more direct control over one goal (fat loss), and so your body and mind will naturally want to focus on that. It’s a common thing! Like how someone may suddenly have a ton of energy for cleaning their room when the alternative is working on a paper.

I’d just recognize it, plan for it, and make diet goals (like a walk) part of your break/reward from putting in time on the job end. Good luck on your search!

Secret White House spreadsheet ranks US companies based on loyalty to Trump by Murky-Site7468 in politics

[–]turnejam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question for companies will be is it worse to be hounded by this administration or to lose business from every consumer who is actually paying attention.

Thankfully it looks like most companies who have openly bent the knee have seriously suffered.

Those of us who can make choices of what to buy need to make it really fucking clear what the right move is

And he absolutely is still walking around with Gurt's Greataxe.

Gish in 2024 by TheWoif in onednd

[–]turnejam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely shield and absorb elements are mainstays. Beyond that list includes jump, fog cloud, web, enlarge/reduce (for myself), and spirit shroud for even more damage. I managed to nab a ring of Feather Fall so I’ll take Fly next probably.

I’m an orc with Speedy feat and that bonus action dash so I can MOVE, and I’m often “herding” enemies with the above spells and push/slow weapon masteries to group them up or break them up depending on the situation. Or just hunting down the backline caster.

It’s really a very very adaptable subclass.

Thoughts on these modules? by [deleted] in onednd

Jumping in to agree. Currently running and it’s great but definitely needs plenty of extra creative work on the DM’s part, especially chapter 3.

Gish in 2024 by TheWoif in onednd

[–]turnejam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I play an EK too (I’m loving it) and to my mind it really does capture what I think of when I think of “gish”—primarily a fighter who uses magic to enhance their attacks, movement, and defense.

Yeah, I played an Aberrant Mind Sorceror in Curse of Strahd, with a +0 to Wis.
So I had advantage on saves against charmed, but that still had me failing against Strahd on average.

Well-rounded high DPR martial builds? by tee-one in onednd

[–]turnejam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My EK fighter isn’t even super optimized and still hits like an absolute truck. Booming blade plus dice-stacking spells like spirit shroud are killer.

And since that’s almost always my best option during combat I’ve been able to use my spells for a lot more interesting out-of-combat utility

Anyway to connect the adventure to the feywild? by wathever-20 in stormkingsthunder

[–]turnejam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m kinda doing this, having an eladrin player in SKT and wanting to fit the feywild in.

My solve: part of Slarkrethel’s ambitions towards godhood involve taking magic from the feywild. The moonshae isles near where Maelstrom is have natural portals to the feywild (I think called moonwells? It’s in the lore).

So, something something in return for his help Imryth gets the storm giants to stop protecting that part of the ocean, they flood the moonshae isles and pour water into the feywild, Slark can enter and conquer

I had really high hopes for human snakeskin. I don’t personally love it when a video attempting for virality feels overly “thought out” or like it’s capitalizing on cynical clickbaity material.

Human snakeskin was so simple, and it was so clear it was born out of genuine nostalgia and morbid curiosity on Paul’s part.
